If you do love History like i do you must don´t miss this place, very interesting specially the museums or exhibitions.
... at the stable site)... like Dachau, only a few substantial buildings remain, and one holds an excellent museum that explains the historical events and attitudes that led to the creation of the camps... the cam...
Unlike many other museums this one is great value for money combining his house with an extraordinary museum.
Goethe's House (the new museum attached to the side is included in the ticket but is a distraction as far as I'm concerned) provides a wonderful private insight into the life and times of Germany's (greatest?)
2 Ways to experience it
Panorama Museum Bad Frankenhausen
We went to visit this museum today and it was fantastic!
We discovered a bed and breakfast in Bad Frankenhausen and it was by accident that we came upon the Panorama Museum.
It was interesting to visit the house and small museum and learn about the famous German author.
Visit to Schiller museum
Point Alpha Geisa
A modern and thorough museum at one end, in English and German; and a half-mile walk along a reconstructed "border" leads to a memorial and also a preserved U.S. watchpost called "Observation Post Alpha."
I highly recommend this museum even if it may be a bit out of your way.
In the museum it showcases a lot of manuscripts of the great poet, many written exactly in this house.
We got a discount because we also visited the Zeiss optisches Museum
The museum has a strong historical perspective, knitting together the production of Wartburg cars pre war, then through the GDR era to the present day.
A nice small museum about East German car manufacturing with some nice old cars which was once the factory where they used to make them.
Plus, the attached museum houses a magnificent exhibit of miniature replicas of all the great palaces of Thuringia with artistry enough to merit the visit itself.
But what makes this museum unique is the 2.5 miles trail along the former border, where you can see a preserved specimen of how e border looked like when Germany was divided.
The museum building was once part of a major vehicle crossing between West and East Germany (Duderstadt-Worbis).
Lutherhaus Eisenach
Newly renovated for the 2017 Reformation Festival the Luther Museum has improved dramatically and is worth an hours visit to read, think and reflect.
The museum had interactive parts and lots of accurate information.
Marvellous museum, a real jewel located in the main square of Weimar.
It's a small museum, basically one room, but so well curated it really does give an excellent introduction to the Bauhaus school, especially, of course, the Weimar years.
A fantastic museum and memorial to courageous people.
All of the text in this museum is in German but I believe there are audio guides available in English.
The museum has a wonderful collection of microscopes, telescopes, camera lens, specialty optics, binoculars, and ophthalmic equipment.
It is a wonderful museum, especially for me as a scientist working with optics.
Great museum with awesome things to see.
Weimar Haus Weimar
Weimar is full of fantastic museums, showrooms, theaters, palaces and you name it.
It's a museum about the history of Weimar during the Middle Ages and with a focus on famous inhabitants such as Goethe, Schiller, Herder, etc.
This is one of the top holocaust museums in the world.
The museum is well organized with the history and documents of the company and is a composite of the area and their cynical or real support of Nazis.
Lindenau Museum Altenburg
Not big , but each painting is real world museums level gem.
It's a beautiful little museum where you can find toys from all over the world, and from any time you want.
This excellent museum starts with the geology of the Suhl area and the history of mining and smelting the iron which gets made into weapons.
A really nice and very interesting museum about the history of Weimar.
great historical, creative museum
