Compared to Goslar and Werningerode, the other two towns in Harz mountain we think Quedlinburg stands as the best for the tranquility and not-too-crowded compact old town while Goslar is charming but a bit spread...
We climbed up to the castle - an easy walk really - for the view and a drink at the tavern on top, then wandered around the old town admiring some of the 1600 remaining half timbered houses that make this place li...
We enjoyed this gondola ride in Worlitz Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as an excursion with Viking's Elbe river cruise.
Amazing large landscape park with plenty to see and explore.
If you are in Magdeburg and you have 30 minute, go and visit the Grüne Zitadelle ( Green Citadel).
... reading desks in the eastern choir, some superlative figure carving, particularly the founders' sculptures in the western choir (including the depiction of Uta the model for Disney's wicked queen in Snow White...
Back to the Dom and Uta - Hello; - everybody, all of you have to go inside and looking for that beautiful face, and looking in the eyes of Uta.

A powerful reminder of the history of antisemitism is located on a back wall of the church where a sculpted plaque, an example of medieval Jewish baiting, a Judensau from 1305, depicts a Rabbi sucking off a sow.
The church was extensively refurbished from2012-2016 in anticipation of the 500th Anniversary of the birth of the Reformation with Luther's posting of the 95 These on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.

Check out Otto's grave, the sculptures of Catherine and Maurice and the portal of the wise and foolish virgins.

Castle Church

As far as he could learn everything in it is extremely nice and interesting, both the statues, the coats of arms, the tomb slabs, particularly those of Martin Luther and Melanchton, the chancel, the vault and nave...
A true piece of history.

The Augustinian monastery where Luther resided as monk and a teacher is enclosed in the Luther haus and the monk's refectory now houses the paintings of Lucas Cranach including his monumentalTen Commandments.
Likewise one can see there priceless early printed books and samples of German Renaissance art as well as coins and medallions of the type often found in treasure chambers.

... about the pioneering artists such as Marianne Brandt, Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius and others so that you can have a complete insight and place the architecture and design artefacts in the correct context.
We made a guided tour which we absolut recommend as you get more insight and also visit rooms which are closed to public
You can walk, or take a tourist mini train or horse-drawn wagon up to the castle, from which there is an impressive view of the town and countryside.
The castle is beautiful inside and out and it was nice that we could walk through at our own pace.
A guided tour (book ahead!) is a good option to explore this Bauhaus site.
Nowadays the city shows you a lot about Bauhaus Architecture at several places in this city.
This one is magnificent with so much detail you only really notice on reviewing your photos afterwards!
I hope my photos whet your appetite for making a visit.

Luther 1517

It does a great job of fleshing out the historical/cultural background and explaining the significance of particular actions and events.
We walked through the museum and Luther's Haus in an afternoon.

Dom Merseburg

Beautiful Original Architecture and Interesting History
If you have any disabilities then continue to the ‘second’ Car Park where a ‘free’ mini-bus is waiting to take you up to the monument - and bring you back (if you tell the person in the ticket office).
There are many old buildings worth a visit and a picture, a couple cool statues, and lots of restaurants and shops nearby.
I would recommend an afternoon spent here seeing the sights.

It requires some effort to go up the tower, but it is worth it !

The Handel Monument

Halle (Saale)
Nice statue.
The statue is not a real draw.
Also an interesting collection of historical musical instruments.
