If you're in the are and interested in history - visit this one!

It cost me 10€ entry, and then I headed inside. There's a lift, but if you want to truly see everything, you cannot avoid the stairs. Overall there are about 500 of them, but as I combined lift with stairs, I climbed about 250, I guess.

The view from the top is nice, but the one from the Panorama Tower in the city is way better.

The tower is a good way to get an overview of Leipzig. It was inexpensive; cash only. There are signs on the railings telling you what the view is you are looking at, although a couple of the signs needed repair.

The Leipzig main station is really spacious. The architecture is truly interesting and there are a lot of shops and dining options. I personally also really like the Starbucks there, mostly due to the room it's in, wich is truly stunning!

St. Nicholas Church is one of the most historical churches of Leipzig ranging for the period from 12th century and it was turned into a Gothic Hall Church in the 17th Century. The Church is named after St. Nicholas, patron of travelers and merchants. It also gained importance during the peaceful revolution with people gathering there from 1989 to 1991. It is vast inside with capacity of over 1400 seats. Its magnificent architecture, beautiful interiors and peaceful environment leaves every visitor impressed.

Absolutely fabulous place in the city of Leipzig and definitely my favourite place... especially for hanging around with friends. You can even go there for a walk just alone ... and contemplate only just a little bit xD

This museum is a masterclass in how to construct a museum (and most in Germany are). Mendelssohn's house has been furnished, by and large, just how it was in the composer's day. There's a beautiful garden, too, welcoming staff and a tranquil atmosphere. A fully comprehensive monument to Mendelssohn, his wife and his sister. There is a room where you can 'conduct' some of his pieces and 'control' the 'orchestra', a room where you can listen to all of Mendelssohn's music and a garden house with a current temporary exhibition on Beethoven, with several of his pieces to listen to.

This is the grand new town hall which is huge in size. It has lovely detailed white stone brick work with many windows and intricate carved works into it's stone. The front entrance has two lions either side of the steps that lead up to the main entrance. It also has an eye catching blue and gold clock face to it's far right hand side along with two main steeples to it's front and a high tower directly behind them. You can also walk all the way around this building and go on a tour every midweek day at 2pm for 3 Euros which I did not have the time to do.

This is a beautiful park-like cemetery of about 82 hectares to the south of Leipzig. It is just a delightful, peaceful place to have a walk and enjoy the surroundings.
There are some lovely trees, including ginkgo, and rhododendrons up to 4 metres high. You can see red squirrels, rabbits and foxes and a wide variety of nesting birds.
There are a number of famous German writers, artists and prominent figures buried here.
It is open everyday from 8am until 6pm.

Decent modern stadium which looks to be build on the footprint of the old stadium.
Easy access both in and out the stadium.
Had good view in the stadium and facilities were good.

This is a strange but poignant memorial solely showing one hundred and forty chairs grouped together in rows. There is a plaque on a nearby wall stating its rememberance of Leipzigs jewish community that was totally wiped out by the Nazis. However, I found it strange that the same wording doesnt refer to the murder of these innocents by Nazis, the SS or even the Gestapo or Third Reich, but to the National Socialist Rule party. This for me is a complete disregard for the real perpetrators of these ghastly crimes and Germanys half hearted desire never to mention those named words ever again.

Unfortunately when I visited this church is was closed all week for a conference so I didnt get to see inside. This was a big disappointment as the unusual but captivating exterior had me excited as to what I would find inside.

Read Faust and the two statues on both side of the street will make more sense. The whole Auerbach Keller street area is inside with shops and a passage way. There is actually a tour of the Keller with a meal included depending on the tour time.
