We found great results, but some are outside Rhineland-Palatinate. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to Rhineland-Palatinate.
Nuerburgring Nuerburg
Brilliant town if you are a petrolhead, great bars and restaurants, excellent views of track, beautiful scenery.
There are several great view spots to watch the track from and it's free to watch.
Mosel Valley Bernkastel-Kues
Cochem worked out perfectly as well...we stayed at Hotel Brixiade which was ideally located - on the opposite side of the town with fabulous views of the castle, Mosel River and town.
The real gems are castles located high on the hills - the view over the vineyards is really breathtaking.
Catherine the mother of Emperor Constantine who saved all the historical sights of Christianity in Israel has her skull entombed in the basement.
A quiet yet heavily traveled cathedral in a country made up of beautiful churches and religious sites.

Burg Eltz Wierschem
Great tour of the castle as well and lovely grounds and paths to explore too with some great views of the castle.
The best way to come see the castle is to park your car and take the short path through the forest so that when you turn the corner you are met with the awe-inspiring view of Burg Eltz.

Most of the sights worth seeing are located in and around the historical market square, there are many opportunities for picture postcard photographs, especially featuring the fountain, traditional "pointed house"...
In our view , the most beautiful Square in all the towns and villages we have seen along the Mosel Valley !
Every time I visit this site, I'm sorry not to have enough time to stay longer and try to decipher the many inscriptions on the graves.
When in Mainz it is a must to see the cathedral and Printing museum but do the 10 minutes walk up to the St. Stephan and get the nice view of the town and excellent interior where gothic walls are combined with 20...
If you are a spiritual person who loves art and music, this is a "must see" Mainz landmark.

My first visit to Speyer, we took in all the 'must see' sites... Consecrated in 1041, Speyer Cathedral is home to the largest Romanesque crypt in the world with all four of the Salian emperors buried here...The me...
You really do need to spend the time and effort to go up the 300 steps to the vantage point on one of the spires, which gives fantastic views of the Rhine and surrounding area
This lovely church , located right beside the Cathedral , is one of the sites listed on the Unesco World Heritage List in Trier .
One of the best landmarks in Trier.

An interesting place with a lot of history which is explained on several boards and landmarks.
In summer it is a good spot for a short stop in one of the Cafe´s on the square that provide a beautiful view of the Dom.

Breathtaking sights of a medieval castle that appears unchanged by the passage of time... Great insight into medieval life.
The tour and views were fantastic but the highlight was the meal and show, very entertaining and a delicious feast as well.

We wandered through the various floors of the castle to view some priceless furniture, weaponry, and artwork from the early centuries.

Huge impressive monument, but what makes it worth the visit are the superb views it offers from its position high above the town and vineyards.

Hauptmarkt Trier
Although it has many landmarks on its sides, it is the whole ambience of old buildings and churches, ancient landmarks and the presence of a market that has been there for ages that gives the Hauptmarkt its charm.
Everything is a stone's throw from this square, food, shopping, historic sites, a "must" visit spot in the Second Rome.

The view and inside of the cathedral was great, but morning market held in the Dom plaza for 3 days during the week was another goodd point to enjoy.
We particularly liked the modern aspects of this historical site.
Burg Stahleck Bacharach
The view up-river of the Rhein is fantastic, and there are wonderful hiking trails that leads into the surrounding vineyards.
Beside the beautiful view of the city, The castle has inside a very cosy and friendly hostel where my friends and I slept during the weekend , breakfast is included.

Burg Nanstein Landstuhl
... Germany, but I give each and every historic castle 5 stars because they are all a remnant, a reminder and a first hand view of the rich life and history of medieval Europe and an amazing but bygone era in time.
It’s huge with lots to explore and the views are amazing!
You can grab a cone of ice-cream and sit and enjoy this view.
It is part of the Roman Monuments, Cathedral of St. Peter and Church of Our Lady in Trier UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is also a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the city of Trier and is a MUST SEE!

This is one of the landmarks of Koblenz, very unusual and really outstanding!

Burg Thurant Alken
The castle is very well preserved, and has so many things to offer; views, garden, architecture and even some humorous photo opportunities!
The view from the top of Alken and the Mosel was spectacular.
