- 424TarikFX🇧🇦Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina43,404 contributionsMarienplatz is another must see in Munich which I love visiting both in the night and day, even when the weather does not be really promising like this time. You should try visiting is it when probably world's best accordion player Ivan Hajek is playing.Written 23 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WPLandryFairfax, VA603 contributionsWhat a lovely park. It’s like their Central Park except much quieter and more like a real park - not so much concrete or attractions to be visited. The best part is that people let their dogs off leash to just roam freely around this park. There are lots of walking paths and grassy areas. It’s very peaceful. There are even little beer gardens throughout. It's worth a visit if you want something relaxing to do.Written 8 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cat2 contributionsNo water dispenser or fountain in the WHOLE residenz. My mom and I went to visit the residence and loved it, how could you not? it’s stunning. But we got very thirsty and didn’t find a fountain or water bottle dispenser in the whole place. It takes around 2 hours and it’s more than 130 rooms + they make you leave your backpack at the entrance. How can you drink?
A part from that beautiful building and very worth the visit, i recommend to take the earphones as in the rooms there is little to no explanation of what they are.Written 4 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My wife described it as being my equivalent of Mecca. I really enjoyed it and could have spent more time there but we had to leave as it was closing for the day. If you like BMW, or even if you don't, it's worth a visit. Unfortunately I didn't go to BMW World so I'll have to save that for another trip!Written 21 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Matthew Groth3 contributionsNymphenburg Palace was the Bavarian royal summer residence, and it still has the beauty and grandeur that makes it akin to other landmark European estates such as the Palace of Versailles. The front grounds are bisected by a canal that approaches the palace buildings before opening up into a pond and fountain. The canal actually continues around the building and then spans the length of the extensive park that lies beyond the palace itself. We opted for the combination ticket that grants access to the main palace, Marstallmuseum (carriage museum), and the smaller palaces that lie within the park. I would recommend getting the combination ticket, particularly if you are going between April and mid-October (we went in September) - the "summer" combination ticket is only 20 Euros and having the option of seeing other things in addition to the main palace is worth it. The smaller palaces are closed between mid-October and March; they do offer a "winter" combination ticket for 16 Euros which grants you access to the main palace and Marstallmuseum.
The palace interior is very impressive. We got English language audio guides at the ticket counter, and I recommend picking up an audio guide in your preferred language. As you go from room to room within the palace, you'll see various numbers posted - entering each number into your audio guide will activate a recording explaining what you are seeing in that room and its history. There are numerous paintings - both landscapes and portraits - as well as furniture and embellishments inspired by other cultures such as Chinese and Egyptian, so it's fascinating to learn about the background of these items and how the royal family came to include them in their residence. A particular highlight is the Gallery of Beauties, a collection of portraits commissioned by King Ludwig I. The audio guide provides a short biography of each subject and how they came to be painted, which helps bring these women - who hailed from a myriad of backgrounds - to life.
Following the tour of the main palace, we spent some time walking around the beautiful park that lies behind it. The park is quite large - you could spend several hours just strolling around - and reminiscent of Versailles' grounds with its mixture of wide gravel paths, shimmering waterways, and mythology-inspired statues. As mentioned previously, our combination ticket granted us access to the various smaller palaces in the park. The size of the park makes it so that there is a fair amount of distance between each of the smaller palaces, and so we opted to only visit one: Badenburg. Badenburg was the royal bathing palace, and it was neat to see the two-story bathing room (think indoor swimming pool with a gallery overlooking above). If we had more time, it would have been nice to check out some of the other smaller palaces. From Badenburg, we headed back to the main palace and cut through to get to the Marstallmuseum. The Marstallmuseum was also interesting, with a collection of coaches, carriages, and sleighs utilized by the Bavarian royals throughout history. As you might imagine, some of the vehicles are quite gaudy in appearance! We also went through the Museum of Nymphenburg Porcelain which occupies the second floor of the Marstallmuseum - that was an unexpected bonus. This concluded our day at Nymphenburg Palace - overall, I found it to be a very enjoyable experience that provided a glimpse into the lives of the Bavarian royals. I would recommend Nymphenburg to anybody with an interest in European history or an appreciation for ornate architecture and beautiful garden landscapes.Written 10 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ryan180680Stockport, UK612 contributionsThis was one of the main reasons for choosing Munich to visit, being an avid football fan.
As you leave the U station, you can see the impressive structure and it looks like an alien spaceship. As we approached, you can see that they're doing work out the front which meant we were diverted the long way around to get to the e trance, so allow extra time for this if you're doing the tour.
We arrived early, so we asked to go on the tour before and the guide allowed us. Andre, our guide, was very knowledgeable and invited questions throughout the tour. The stadium itself is impressive and the tour lasted approximately 1 hour. You get to see all the must see areas in the stadium with lots of photo opportunities.
One tip, if you're on the later tours make sure you get their earlier to go around the museum and shop as they close at 6pm.Written 22 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The aviation section was mind-blowing, and the interactive exhibits kept us engaged. While some displays needed updating, the sheer scale and variety of exhibits made it worthwhile.Written 15 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Adrian DEdinburgh, UK799 contributionsMy wife and I took a walk in the Olympiapark on New Year's Eve. Everything was closed unfortunately so we weren't able to visit the stadium etc. The Olympic Tower was undergoing maintenance so even if it hadn't been New Year's Eve we wouldn't have been able to go there anyway. Despite that we had a great time walking around the park and we were able to go to the top of the Olympic Hill and watch the last sunset of the year. It's definitely worth a visit.Written 28 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Berke AyrancıoğluGraz, Austria901 contributionsIf you are not really into cars, can be a better option then BMW museum. Welt is more like a showroom of BMW group(BMW, cooper, Rolls Royce etc.) There is also a section for motorbikes. You can get in the vehicles to try for yourself. There are a couple of restaurants inside, also a cafe that doesn't have human employee where orders are prepared by a robotic arm.Written 21 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheShisTel Aviv, Israel44,747 contributionsThis is a fantastic building, located in Marienplatz.
While the interiors of the building are gorgeous themselves, don't miss the tower, which gives you an excellent view of the old town.Written 31 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
