What travellers are saying
- DelinaAuckland, New Zealand3 contributionsI highly recommend the Aguielle du Midi in Chamonix. The cable car ride was enjoyable and the views at the top are outstanding. We happily spent a few hours enjoying the scenery, watching paragliders, skiers and hikers and having some food and beverages at the restaurant. Good value for money as it is an experience like no other.Written 10 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sean TOntario, Canada33 contributionsFantastic trip. Well organized by G Adventures. Our guide Tom Goodall was knowledgeable and capable. He did a great job setting a great pace and was clear he was aware of everyone in the group at times. Everything exactly as advertised. And the mountains, SUPERBWritten 5 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- I visited this place🇬🇧🇳🇱🇺🇸🇫🇷🇨🇭Israel35,972 contributionsPROS
* Fantastic breathtakingly scenic place
* Iconic incredible stunning score capped mountain scenery
* Unique cable car that links two mountain peaks
CONS
* Getting from Chamonix to the base of the Planpraz gondolas requires walking from the city
* Since it is popular, it is crowded
“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… because I knew how fantastic it would be and I was fascinated and mesmerized by the cable car linking two mountain tops. I explored the areas of both mountain tops and basked in the incredible views and the pure fresh brisk mountain air.
I loved it so much that I went twice during my one week visit. I extremely enjoyed the two round trip journeys of the cable car that I did.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It is free with the Mont Blanc MultiPass
WOULD “I VISIT THIS PLACE” AGAIN?
For sure yes
ADVICE
* it is a fantastic special and beautiful place, so be sure to visit it
* Enjoy the unique special cable car that travels between two mountain tops

Easy to combine with Grand Balcon Sud for a full day outdoors.
There are two routes:
1. Go from L'Index, which is downhill to Lac Blanc. No exposure but can be tricky for those who are not sure-footed as involves walking on rocky surfaces and sometimes scree. Difficult if there is snow (very slippery) so would only recommend this route after the snow has melted.
2. Go from La Flegere, which is an uphill to Lac Blanc. This is the most common route - easy ascent with nothing technically challenging. Keep turning around for the views. Very busy route so expect traffic.
Once you reach the lake, its worth hiking up a little further for the best views back over to Montblanc.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You have to take the train and then a cable car, not to mention descend a whole bunch of stairs (and then go up on the return). The train is a lovely ride with beautiful scenery. The ice cave itself is fairly short - I would say 15-20 minutes to walk through it. People stopped to take pictures, and there is some interesting signage, but overall, you're just walking through. The total outing was expensive though, so make sure to make the most of it. Important NOTE: The first train leaves quite a bit before the first cable car and when the ice cave opens. So the first trains are much emptier, but then you have to wait around for quite a while. It's a beautiful spot for pictures, and there is a souvenir shop and a cafe (which only opens at 9am), but again, you might get there before anything opens if you take one of the first trains.Written 19 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rachel LStockton-on-Tees, UK26 contributionsAbsolutely gorgeous trail of waterfalls in a beautiful valley. Some slippy narrow spots on the wooden trail so wear shoes with good grip. Signage was translated well and explained all of the features.Written 19 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - I visited this place🇬🇧🇳🇱🇺🇸🇫🇷🇨🇭Israel35,972 contributionsPROS
* Amazing view of Les Bossons glacier
* Some simple brief walks to see the place "close-up"
* Less well-known so less crowded
* Easy and fun chair lift access from the ground street level
CONS
* Access by car or by not-too-frequent bus
* Only one very long hiking trail can be accessed from here
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I chose this as my first full- day activity after arrival.
I walked there from Les Houches- my first time with a full backpack and hiking boots- because I missed the bus and train and didn't want to sit there for more than half an hour.
The ground chair lift is a ten minute uphill walk off of the main road. i enjoyed the round trip chair lift and took "helpful" 👍many photos 📷 of fellow passengers.
It was good at the top- several brief walks to see the glacier "close-up." There was only one hiking trail, and that was posted as several hours long, so I didn't do that
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It was included in the Mont Blanc MultiPass
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
No, because i saw, explored and photographed and I wouldn't do it unless I was embarking on that four hour hike
ADVICE
* Good place to visit and great views
* Fun chair lift
* Come by car because the bus is not too reliable

- Plamb11Bothell, WA120 contributionsIn a January with little snow, we arrived here after 30cm+ of new snow and a bluebird day. - MNRLVEUColumbus, OH413 contributionsWe are two adults, well into our 60’s and went for the luge ride. What a great time, even if this is mainly for kids the luge is something for everyone to enjoy. - Martin0159Lutterworth, UK221 contributionsTook my 13 year old daughter here as she loves crystals. A huge display of amazing formations from around the area and the world. If you're in the area and into rocks and crystals then it's a must visit. Cheap as well.Written 26 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
