Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Stanislava OSofia, Bulgaria22 contributionsIf you like Monet’s work you should definitely visit the museum. The story behind his Water Lilies is amazing. Their display is mesmerizing 😍
The queues are not big at all, so you can get in really fast. There is also a cloakroom, so you can leave your baggage, coat and umbrella.
The only thing that didn’t impress us was the exhibition of Robert Rayman, but people who are into abstract art might enjoy it.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s more than worth the visit to see Rodin’s designs, models and paintings as it is to see his finished—and well known—pieces. This visitor was not aware of how many of Rodin’s sculptures originated in his La Porte de l’Enfer—particularly Le Penseur. If time allows, visit the museum on a dry day as so many of Rodin’s bronzes are in the surrounding gardens. Not to go unmentioned are the works by Rodin’s student, inspiration and lover, Camille Claudel. She was much misunderstood in her life, largely because she was a woman in a “man’s” profession, but I found her work equal to her teacher’s. In many ways her work is more fluid than that of Rodin. I was particularly impressed by her L’Âge mûr or, as I like to translate it, Ripe Old Age. Nuff’ said. The works of Rodin and Claudel make for a fascinating and rewarding visit.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RonL40Utica, NY3,565 contributionsDon't be disappointed after you go into the drawing rooms on the first floor or (if you're not interested in medieval art) the illuminated pages on the second floor. The pearls of this collection are below, in a marvelous collection of Monet paintings -- over a dozen of his water lilies. There is as well, an impressive collection of works by Berthe Morisot impressionist paintings. Boosted by a special exhibit of Morisot when we were there. Well worth going.Written 30 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ArtemisInLoveGA252 contributionsThe most unexpected, fantastical, magical museum in Paris. Photographers will feel like they're in a dream world. Everyone else will be enchanted. So much better than countless paintings as far as museums go. You can't miss this attraction.Written 17 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Christine SJackson, NJ40 contributionsBeautiful museum and testament to a families rich history. - 53MSGNew York City, NY291 contributionsWhat a collection of artefacts! All from erstwhile French Colonies in South America, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Barely place to walk. Though really, these should be back in the countries they were taken from. There's one collection donated by some doctor who worked in the Indo-China French colonies. Granted that had they not been here, they would not have been carefully preserved and more likely sold to private collectors by the various regimes after independence.
We actually went for the Kehinde Wiley Collection of Portraits of African Heads of State. The short film provided an explanation on how he went about it. Just a wonderful exhibit. Wiley also painted President Obama.
There was a history of Bollywood Cinema. Stunningly curated together with the history and evolution of film and film shows in India.Written 22 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Highly recommend getting the audio guide (available in French, English, Spanish, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Italian). Museum is on three floors - accessible via lift or stairs. There's also a cafe on site with some light foodfare options. The displays are interesting and the ending portion inside the former church which now houses some vehicles, has a swing pendulum which is great to see. Very small giftshop - mostly books - at the end of the tour. An informative visit.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SJASingaporeStirling, UK11 contributionsWe visited the Rothko exhibition in March and it was a really good experience. As far as the venue is concerned, I can see some people have found the staff rude or unhelpful - we didn’t see any of that. Everyone was welcoming and polite both outside and during the exhibition, helping people to download the online guide and politely moving back people who got a little close to the paintings and accidentally set off the alarms.
We arrived about 1040 for 11am entry, so we probably queued for about 30 mins in total. As others have said, there’s no cover outside, so dress for the weather. I avoided the queue for bags, as I just had a tiny bag.
The Rothko exhibit itself is wonderful. We easily spent 2 hours there, and could have spent longer. That’s definitely longer than I’d normally spend in a museum.Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Already been in a perfume museum and perfume making class long (very long) ago in Grasse (in one of their competitors ending “….ard”) only thing I remember was that my personal creation wasn’t good so ended up buying their creations. This museum near Opera is something that I would call a complement of getting to know French culture along with Parisian attractions.
Liked a lot the second section of the exhibits; amazing bottles, flasks and all sort of unimaginable perfume related objects designed by glassmakers like Lalique, Baccarat with all kind of precious and non materials like wood, gold, silver, gems and artists like Salvador Dali; a joy to watch them!
The merchandise of the customary tour-end shop are another delight, not cheap but in line with the costs of production because requires tons and tons of raw material to produce a particular scent.
Couldn’t stop thinking about Patrick Süskind book but without the murders!Written 20 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Read up on Utrillo and his mom Suzanne Langedon before you go, as they lived here and the studio is recreated faithfully as well
As their works on display. Find and read the history of Van Gogh on placards in the stone wall around the corner away from Sacre Coeur also, very illuminating. This museum is a perfect fit for the Montmartre area and vibe. We really enjoyed it.
Excellent large exhibit on the “black cat” posters and shows in the area, upon third floor.
Nice small non- pushy gift shop and very hospitable staff- easy on the eyes too!!Written 25 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's in a beautiful building (partly designed by Mansart!) and cleverly organized by animal species, for the most part. Organizing it in this way makes you appreciate the breadth and eclecticism of the collection, which includes everything from ancient artifacts to high-quality Baroque art (Rubens, Bol, etc.) to clever contemporary installations (e.g., a ceiling covered with owl heads and feathers by Jan Fabre). This blending of the new and old makes you appreciate our deep affinity with the natural world, and how much our relationship with it has changed over the centuries. There is so much here that I cannot imagine anyone being bored, even if they are not particularly into hunting. (And if you are an animal rights person, you might just love this place more.) I just cannot recommend the place enough. Also, don't miss the gorgeous hardcover mini-catalogue, 'A Singular Museum,' for sale in the gift shop for only €6. It is beautifully designed (like the museum itself) and you will certainly discover things you missed during your visit.Written 29 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Isaac F2 contributionsThis was an AMAZING museum that I spent a solid two hours in, listening to and learning about the different historic instruments. It could also be great for a small side trip during a busy day or if you are in the area. The route through is a little confusing for an American tourist like me but once I figured it out it made sense. I really enjoyed the vastness of the collection along with the beauty of the building itself! And as a bonus, it was completely free for me! Highly recommend this somewhat hidden gem in the outer arrondissements.Written 17 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kathryn E3 contributionsWe saw the Chagall exhibition; it was incredible to be literally surrounded by Chagall's art!! I also enjoyed the 10-minute Paul Klee exhibition, as well as the information provided upstairs on both artists.Written 13 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mitsuki S7 contributionsMy family and I went to Galerie Dior in Paris and we loved it. The clothes and dresses were so beautiful, and we could see how much work went into making them. Christian Dior's designs are really special. Our daughter was amazed by everything, and it was great to see her so happy. If you like fashion, you should definitely visit Galerie Dior—it's a wonderful experience!Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
