Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- julie pCape Town, South Africa67 contributionsThis was our first tour at the beginning of our Bordeaux trip. We were able to see how the area and its trade history developed into a main hub of European wines. Lovely exhibits of original photos, artifacts etc. Definitely worth a visit!!Written 19 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dmitry M4 contributionsHalf-wild park near Bordeaux. Great place for picnic in hot days. Not many people and cute pond with ducks and otters.Written 15 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fi11fi61Alexandria, VA26 contributionsOur tourist map marked only Palais Gallien with no explantion. After an underwhelming visit to the Jardin Publique, we walked here expecting a French palace of some sort. What a surprise to find this Roman ampitheatre ruin nestled within the neighborhood. What remains was impressive: it must have been magnificent 1800 years ago. Walking back towards downtown afterwards, we stopped in at “Stop-in,” a small kebab/wrap/burger joint at the corner of rue Palais Gallien and Cours Georges Clemenceau. 15 euros bought 2 tasty wraps and an orange juice: a bargain lunch. The Palais rates only 4/5 because it is fenced off without entry but definitely is worth a visit.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VadimMurmansk, Russia34,575 contributionsMaybe we were just unlucky, but we failed to get into this abbey church twice. On the first day there was a wedding, on the second day it was simply closed. Judging by the small number of interior photos on the site, many have encountered the same problem. However, even the exterior of the church deserves attention. The current church was built as part of a Benedictine abbey in the late 11th and early 12th centuries, with a Saintonge Romanesque façade. Despite the reconstruction of the famous medieval improver Paul Abadie in the 19th century, the church retained Romanesque features. The carved decor of the portal is instructive. Here is a woman bitten by a snake on the chest, as retribution for lust, and a man pulling the rope, as a symbol of the choice between good and evil. Elders with musical instruments symbolize that it is still possible to get to heaven. They write that the best thing inside the cathedral is the Dom Bedos organ of 1745, named after the creator. However, to hear it, you probably need to get married. At Sainte-Croix Cathedral…Written 9 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liege-Bastogne-LiegeZurich, Switzerland455 contributionsThis eminent but hidden-away Basilica is worth finding.
That it is on a small square, with a tiny park and a local market, on a lovely but unremarkable street in a top residential part of Bordeaux adds to its attraction. It avoids the hordes of people like me who want to come and gawk.
I came by it whilst visiting Bordeaux and a friend who lives just down the street introduced me to it.
It has a rich history of a thousand years or more and the site has been a place of veneration since the 400's. It is a UNESCO heritage site as it is one of the Churches making up on e of the French branches of the Compostella de Sanitago route.
It is serene, calming, historic, venerable and peaceful.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Benjamin B2 contributionsThe 2 Day wine tour across the West Bank and Right Bank of Bordeaux was hands down one of the best experiences of our 2 week trip through France! Our guide, Bogdan, was absolutely fantastic, super knowledgeable about the area and wines, and also really friendly and easygoing. He was also a awesome driver and picked great spots for lunch, making the whole day smooth and stress-free. From the moment we got picked up, we knew we were in good hands. He shared all kinds of interesting facts about Bordeaux and its wines without ever making it feel like a lecture. He took us to some incredible wineries where we got to taste amazing wines, and it felt like each stop was perfectly chosen. At every winery, we were welcomed warmly, and it felt like we were getting a VIP experience. The winery/guide made sure we understood what made each wine and area unique, and showed their passion for Bordeaux wines. At the end of each day Bogdan even recommended some great local sight seeing areas/streets and spots to eat at.
If you’re in Bordeaux and want to do a wine tour, I can’t recommend this enough. It was fun, informative, and just an all-around amazing 2 days. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and generous with his time, the tour is reasonably priced and we had a great time. I highly recommend you do this tour if you want to see the best of Bordeaux by bicycle.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Selena B1 contributionWe highly recommend Frederic! He is very knowledgeable of wines and the regions we visited. We enjoyed touring a range of different sized wineries and stopped for lunch and ice cream in between. Most of all, he was accommodating, willing to be flexible to our interests, and fun to hang around with for two full days!Written 27 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
