We visited on a number of occasions, The worst was when it was cloudy and there was some rain in the air. The best were when it was sunny and also late at night when the lights are on the buildings and the crowds have depleted . It looked like it had been cleaned recently as the stone was a very creamy white colour. The architecture is impressive , lots of masonry to look at. The carvings are impressive. The low level arches and brick work are very distinctive and attractive. - Suresh CCharlotte, NC970 contributionsThis is a very beautiful massive tower or castle entrance. After completing our visit to reflection pool and Place De La Bourse, we walked to this place. We then went to a tram station near by to take the train to Olympics stadium to visit a football match. Overall good experience in the city. It is a pleasant park, not outstanding but still worth a visit and a stroll around after you have spent a few days looking at the other attractions of the city. Well laid out information, with useful English translation. Some nice audio bits too, again with English translation.
Not a huge place, but a good hour looking around. Good spot for photos of the area. - Suresh CCharlotte, NC970 contributionsFountain with horses having claws as the foot, couple of kids, Queen, Shells etc provides an impressive look. Area around has lot of trees. A walk of less than 10 minutes will take to reflection pool and Place de la Bourse. A short walk will take to the cathedral Saint Andre de Bordeaux. La Maison du Glacier ice cream shop seems a famous one and quality was very good. Trams are quite good and frequent through out the city. As luck would have it, we were there a few minutes after Noon and foudn that they ahad a Mass 1t 12:15PM so we were able to attend. The church is beautiful and is very understated on a side lane that may be difficult to find but it is there quite close in the Grand Theatre section, just across from the tram stop.
