Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went here mid morning. The place was busy but not so much that you could not see anything, Interesting displays. Nice to have a glass of wine on the upper floor to conclude the visit. My one tip would be to allow 2 to 3 hours for your visit as it will take that long.

This is a must see for any art lover...or even just anyone who enjoys interesting and novel audio-visual experiences.

The setting is also fantastic and really means that you become fully immersed in the experience.

This is definitely one of the very best experiences of this type I have ever had. Well worth it!!

This was our first tour at the beginning of our Bordeaux trip. We were able to see how the area and its trade history developed into a main hub of European wines. Lovely exhibits of original photos, artifacts etc. Definitely worth a visit!!

I went with my kids for the expo "pionneers of Street Art". The place is nice, access is free for children. We really enjoyed the expo, spanning both the main house and the garden. The experience was quite good, concerning the works exposed as well as their organisation and the accompanying cultural content on posters for example. The expo is of limited amplitude but really worth it in my view. The only minor issues I saw was with access, where we came at a "calm" hour, and queued only a few minutes, but when we left the queue was quite larger and I expect some people waited tens of minutes.
In the end I recommend visiting the institute when you notice an attracting expo, and I will myself follow its program and look forward to further visits.

Situated in one of the building in the Place de la Bourse, the Customs National museum presents the history of French customs administration from Antiquity to our present days.

The Museum des Douanes is a very small museum and the collections of artefacts and works of art – most are fake, illustrate the evolution of the organisation of customs policies, as well as details encounters between smugglers and custom officials.

This museum is a bit out of the way but has some great exhibits. There was a modern art exhibition on the top floor by one artist (Obispo) which was really amazing. Overall it is worth a visit if you like boats, yachts etc.

Entry is covered by Bordeaux City Pass

Anyone interested in war memorabilia would find this exhibition interesting. Jean Moulin's room with interesting photos, one with the Queen's mother. Not to be missed the room on the Concentration camps - there are no words....

The building looks amazing, and we really wanted to explore inside. However, when we got inside, there were only about 5 spaces to explore - starting on level 5 . It was very confusing finding your way around as the exhibition spaces were rooms in between private rooms.
The exhibitions were very niche and did not work as a combination or had much to appeal to the masses. Never mind, maybe the outside deck would have impressive views of the city... no, it was closed.
A complete waste of space and not worth the 2 euro entry fee.

Seems odd to call a museum old fashioned but it’s definitely interesting and enjoyable. No mention of recent history transforming the old port into the current promenades.
