Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Alais was great. We saw two Chateaux in the Margaux area: Haut-Breton and Marquis de Terme. We were very fortunate to see the grape harvest, destemming, and sorting process. As an added bonus, Alais took us to a chocolate factory with lots of free samples. Of course we purchased wine and chocolate at each stop. I neglected to take photos at the wineries but we did stop to take a photo of Chateaux Palmer - one of many beautiful Chanteaux along the way.

We have been drinking wine for forty years but most have been from California and other states on the west coast. We have long deferred learning about French wines but have been curious to learn more for some time. We splurged for an all-day tour of three MĂ©doc wineries with Nicolle Croft. We were very glad that we did.

Nicolle specializes in finding, as the name says, small independent producers of excellent and reasonably priced wines. We were delighted to try them and brought some home. She's extremely knowledgeable about the wines of France and their makers.

When we return we will book another tour with her.

This was my favorite day in Bordeaux. The whole chemistry of the sweet wines is fascinating. Alais is a great tour guide. She really knows what she's talking about. She also offers a great value for anyone who wants a private tour for just one person. Both wineries she picked were very welcoming and provided me a private tour and tasting. They were both well paced and very informative. They were also both eager to find exactly what I wanted without trying to upsell me. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I made a last minute reservation for this wine tour. And last minute means in less than 24 our driver/ tour guide Fred was able to pull off miracles by getting us wine tastings in Margaux and Pauillac regions that were great. Fred also recommended a lunch place near by at a spectacular restaurant between tastings. I would highly recommend this tour. Hope to return and do it again.

Catherine provided us with a fabulous tour of the Cognac region during our short visit to Bordeaux. Her knowledge of the history of the area, along with her insights into the wine and cognac areas, made the trip magical. She also provided us with some thoughtful gifts to welcome us to her city. I would strongly recommend Bacchus Tours if you are in the Bordeaux or Cognac area, and want to learn more about the region and its products.

This was anticipated to be the highlight and even the main purpose of our visit to Bordeaux and Catherine our guide made it absolutely so. She picked us up at our hotel in her lovely Range Rover, stopped off for a special local treat from the bakery en route and gave us lots of information about the history of the area and the appellations as we went. We visited 3 wineries each quite different from the others but all very interesting and worthwhile. The first one was especially lovely with a tasting of 5 wines inside the chateau. At the second and third , we saw the harvest in full flow as well as tasting more delicious wine. Between the first and second we had a lovely lunch in a restaurant just outside St Emilion which was delightful. Just a brilliant day, superbly organised and executed by Catherine. We would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting a private tour experience.

Christian was professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant. (He speaks English and French fluently, Spanish (I think) and a smattering of other languages, too!) He arrived early at 8:20a.m. at the hotel for an 8:30 pickup, and was a very good driver. We felt safe with him. We arrived at Lascaux with 10 minutes to spare before our tour began. Lascaux was just wonderful ! It is a fantastic museum and exhibit, expertly done. We ate at the café de Lascaux. It was just a panini, but it was tasty. Christian then drove us to tour the caves at Rouffignac. Although we had never before heard of Rouffignac, it was very interesting. It took roughly 2-2.5 hours to return to the hotel. The ride was smooth. We got back to the hotel at about 5:30p.m. It was a long day for us, but very worth it.

We had the perfect day with Malgosia exploring St Emilion! Her incredible wine knowledge combined with her local knowledge made the tour incredibly informative and we learnt so much. Malgosia has great attention to detail and curated a personalised tour specific to our interests and previous wine experience. We cannot speak more highly of our time and would recommend Malgosia to anyone visiting Bordeaux interested in having the best wine experience possible.

Went with Karim from Ophorus Excursions on an all day tour to wineries in the Bordeaux Medoc region. Toured three wineries of different types and tasted wines at each place. Karim was an excellent guide and we had a relaxing and fun visit

We did a private tour for 4 with Julie the last week of September. Julie was great about communicating with us before the tour to plan exactly what would work for us. As two couples, we happened to be quite flexible. Our tour, as it turned out, was during harvest. We got to see and experience more than we had on previous tours we’ve taken elsewhere. We saw grapes being sorted and stirred in the vats. Julie was incredibly knowledgeable about not just the particular wineries she took us to, but wines, generally, and the wine-making process. We learned so much. She was lots of fun to spend the day with. It was really a terrific tour.

We returned to Bordeaux in July, 2022 for a second wine tour with Julie. I have collected wines since the early 80s and have done wine tours all over the world. Julie and her company are as good as they come. The booking process is quick and efficient. They are extremely flexible on scheduling and the agenda. Most importantly , Julie guides you through very interesting, innovative wineries so you feel like you have a real sense of what is occurring in the region. Julie comes from a “wine family” so you quickly realize that she has knowledge way beyond her years and, that this is not only her profession but also her life long passion. They will also line you up with great restaurants and have a chateau in St. Emilion that is available for booking.
Every wine lover should take advantage of Julie’s expertise.

Wow! Wow! Wow! We had a fabulous time with Roman who was our guide to experience the finer tastes of the French cuisine, wine and the beauty of the countryside. In addition to Saint-Emilion, we took several other tours with Roman and we were able to appreciate the culture through his expert relationships he’d curated with the restaurant owners, chefs and vintners. Each meal was thoughtfully paired with wine. As equally as impressive as the food was Roman’s knowledge of the history of Bordeaux and many villages and castles we’d visited. His enthusiasm and passion made for an unmatched travel experience!

In summary, this was a small, intimate experience of French culture that provided a nice break from the more cliche tourist experiences, and Roman was as genuine and accommodating as one could hope for. I just wish we had more time to experience other parts of France with him. We highly recommend this tour.

We arranged for a transfer from the Port of Bordeaux to the airport on a recent trip. This company responded quickly to every email. Our driver contacted us a couple of days before via Whatsapp to confirm and get final specifications for the meeting place. He sent us a picture of his car and warned that he might be 10 min late. Since we had lots of time, this was no issue. He arrived precisely 10 minutes after the original meeting time. He was professional and gave us an excellent ride. This was cheaper than the cruise line transfer by half (and that was for a bus). An excellent service.
