Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- geelongexpatMelbourne, Australia1,300 contributionsCool old building with well kept grounds. The fairy lake was cute and fun. The detail on the building is impressive. Worth a visit.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gerard BNewbridge, Ireland932 contributionsI took this drive during the week. It is truly a stunning drive, one that does Ireland proud. The road I took ( from Roundwood to Manor Kilbride is very narrow in places so one should drive with caution. Also in winter please heed the warning signs about frost & snow.
There are plenty of spots to pull off the road to absorb the scenery. But some people must heed warning signs. I was up near the Guinness Lake where there was a walker walking past signs warning about unstable ground. There was a ranger up there who stopped the person.
There are plenty of stunning sites up there without disobeying the warning signs.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - geelongexpatMelbourne, Australia1,300 contributionsGorgeous lake nestled amongst the hills. There's a good path that runs alongside it. The wind was blowing the ripples in all directions when I went which I'd never seen before.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Viktorija B40 contributionsAbsolutely amazing beach, but no toilets. Ohh, toilets are here, but they are locked. So many people coming here, but they locked so you just can look at them. That's very bad. Otherwise the beach is class.Written 9 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chaia WLane Cove, Australia27 contributionsDrive up a single (ok, two way road, Irish standards). The views of Djouce mountain was magnificent. Went there on a weekday, so easy to find parking stop, have to maneuver 3-point turn- as we passed the best viewing point. Drive slow, even if it says 80kph.
It's called Lough Tay - Lough Te - Lake Tea because it's colored like a Tea rather than a glass of Guinness.

Nothing much to do other than appreciating the panoramic views and taking lots of photographs, which was well worth the stop. There was an information board which outlined the castle's history and construction. Local legend has it that St. Patrick landed on the beach when he initially arrived in Ireland.Written 1 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - geelongexpatMelbourne, Australia1,300 contributionsLarge body of water. Easy to get to via the 65 bus. The walks around it are peaceful. There wasn't many people using the lake near blessington town. A nice quiet alternative to other more popular places in Wicklow like Bray and Glendalough.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul M4 contributionsDrove an hour from our hotel in Glen of the Downs to the easiest route starting point at Fenton's pub. 11am on a Monday when we arrived in beautiful sunshine only to be told by soldiers that the mountain was off limits all week due to war games. Bored soldier said he had just chased a couple who had driven from Co Mayo to climb and that we all should phone ahead. He gave us an Oglaigh na hEireann ordnance map and pointed out a smaller mtn nearby that was a good climb. He also checked the next few weeks firing schedule but returned to say it hadn't been updated yet. He emphasised that there was no other access to the top of Lugnaquilla that week.
Undettered and helped by his free map we drove to Glenmalure and Baravore carpark. There was no mobile signal there and NO indication of where or how to climb Lug. It wasn't mentioned on any of the information maps or tourist signs posted in the carpark.
Got talking to a lad who arrived just after us and who had also met the welcome party at the army office near Fentons! He had driven down from Belfast and like us was determined to get to the top. He had watched a YouTube clip of the climb from Baravore so we set off together.
I would higjly recommend the climb from here for the scenery and views. It turned out fairly straightforward to follow the trail up. However we were fortunate with the weather and that the previous week had been dry so all the marshy areas were not too bad.
No sign of the Irish Army at the top but they were making plenty of noise below on the other side.
On the descent met a young woman from Wales who had the Fentons experience too although it seems they had been rude to her. She had then taken a wrong turn on the climb up from Baravore carpark and with time constraints had sacked it.
Overall it took us 4 and a half hours with 10 or 15 mins spent at the top.Written 30 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tour is very interesting and they give you a sample of all of their beers that they brew in sight. The food was very good quality, the location also does accommodation with a camp site close by, Great spot for a weekend, would go again.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
