ignore all the negative comments. go early avoid the queues.

spent a whole day here with my 7 year old.

spent 5 hours in the water park alone!
soft play is very good aswell
resturant is ok,( inflated prices like most entertainment venues)
arcade is very good, great selection of machines.

could do with a bar for the adults though!

This past weekend I visited Ireland's Ancient East. One of the OPW sites I had an opportunity to enjoy was Mellifont Abbey (or Old Mellifont Abbey)

Even though it was wet outside, Nicola gave a terrific tour to myself and a French family. We learned about the history of the Cistercian order, how the abbey was founded and its evolution to modern times. Its clear she has a passion for history and a love for the location itself.

The exhibit was terrific and the walk through the site with somebody who could re-create it in our minds eye, was important.

Plenty of parking and toilets were a welcome sight

I always do the tour if possible.

The two high crosses at this site are beautiful and powerful works of art. The rest of the site is small, but quite interesting to explore. The people running the site were friendly and helpful.

Nestled in the woods, we loved everything aboiut this place. The charming old mill, the surrounding area, the warm and attentive staff and the food was a delight. Will definitely be back soon. Can't wait to try the Táin Tap Room for their pizzas which we hear is fantastic.

I enjoyed my first visit n quite a few years to this beautiful Church in the centre of Drogheda. I was showing a foreign visitor aroud who was fascinated to see the head of St. Oliver Plunkett but I was quietly confident that he'd love rhe Church too once there.
Obviously everyone comes to see the head preserved in a glass jar to the front left as you enter. I remember doing in on a school your when I was about 9 years old! It's macabre but fascinating and they have a very interesting explanatory set of wall panels to rhe side.
The rest of the chirch is besutiful too, though and that's what's often forgotten. The stained glass in particular is very impressive .

Moody and atmospheric Norman castle just across the NI border in Eire. Instantly transports you to a medieval moment - or to Westeros if you’re so inclined. Park on the road and walk through the gate to get tip to the castle - don’t expect a parking lot or ticket booth!

What a pleasure to meet Cara and hear about her lovely home. We really enjoyed our time here and left feeling really delighted that we had been. There is something so much more inviting about visiting a home rather than a monument
