Tangmere Military Aviation Museum Tangmere

... standard of layout, exhibits etc., and this one at Tangmere ranks very highly amongst all the air museums I have visited, just the name is evocative of a historical past and pivotal role in air defence during ...
The kids really enjoy being able to sit in some of the cockpits / ejector seats and touch many of the exhibits unlike most of the bigger museums such as Duxford where they get bored after a while.

Combine with a visit to The Weald and Downland open air Museum and you really will have a day to remember.
The lady at the reception desk was so welcoming and took the time to tell us all about the foundation and the work of art installed in the museum itself.
Weald & Downland Living Museum Singleton

Set in beautiful South Downs countryside along with a wonderful brand new gift shop and restaurant with views over a pretty lake, thus is one of the most interesting and enjoyable outdoor museums we’ve ever visited.
This is one of my very favorite open air museums, and it's a wonderful antidote to all of the National Trust properties showing how the very rich lived.
Fishbourne Roman Palace

So many museums these days have gone too much overboard to appeal (euphenism for dumb down) to kiddies, leaving adults out on a limb.
Excellent museum, well displayed Palace mosaic floors supported by informative side exhibition of the history and artifacts found on the site.

South Downs Planetarium and Science Centre

It perfectly compliments the exciting new display on Tim Peake and the International Space Station at The Novium Museum which has just started and will greatly enhance the reputation of The Novium.
Before you go into the planetarium you can have a look at the small museum around the foyer while you wait for it to start.

As town museums go, this has to be one of the best.
This has to be one of the best small museums in the country.

Bognor Regis Museum Bognor Regis 9.1 km away

This is one of the best local history museums of the type, and size, I have seen.
I have visited this museum quite a lot of times and always find something different in there, it is only small but there are so many things on display ie childhood games, the war, a room full of radios, Christmas...

RNLI Selsey Lifeboat Station and Museum Selsey 12.0 km away

This new lifeboat station was built in 2016 and now houses a well stocked gift shop (the ladies volunteering were wonderful), museum exhibits and a fantastic viewing area to view the stunning Shannon 13-20 and Sup...
The little museum itself is informative and interactive, and my boys loved dressing up as lifeboat crew, but what made it so excellent for us was the gentleman who showed us around.
