Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a fantastic couple of hours, 2nd time I have been to The Victoria Tunnel.
It’s worth a visit to anyone visiting the Northeast. Pete was so funny, very interesting, knowledgeable and was a fabulous story teller, the time flew by listening to him, a truly lovely man. Jane who was training was such a lovely lady too. Thank you both very much

Newcastle Castle is a great step back in time into the great history of Newcastle. Small entyr fee, but it's worth it. Also offers great views of the city.

Lovely little spot in Jesmond. Super easy to get to from the town centre by the metro and well worth the trip for the lovely cafe and animals!

This is a bridge across the river in the center area of the town. It’s a nice looking bridge. It looks better at night. Worth a look.

Today, I had the privilege of visiting Newcastle Cathedral and was deeply moved by their profound commitment to social action. From the prayer wall for victims of abuse and the prayer tree to the opportunity to light a candle, every aspect of their ministry radiates intentional compassion. Their café, which provides employment opportunities for ex-offenders and a chance for a fresh start, is a beautiful testament to grace in action.

What touched me most profoundly—both as a human, a Christian, and a Methodist minister—was the dedicated space they provide for the homeless to rest. In the bitter subzero temperatures of a North East winter, this simple yet radical act of hospitality is genuinely life-saving. While such a ministry must come with its challenges, I have not encountered anything quite like it in any other cathedral across the UK. It is undoubtedly a sacrificial expression of their faith, yet it exemplifies the essence of Jesus’ call to love our neighbour and to welcome the poor, the orphan, and the widow.

This extraordinary ministry led me to prayer—lifting up their work, their witness, and the lives they touch daily. Newcastle Cathedral shines as a beacon of light and hope in the city, embodying the gospel in a way that is tangible, transformative, and deeply inspiring.

This train station is quite large and old looking. It has some places to eat. Finding the trains is easy. From the outside the architecture is really nice and you can imagine how important it was before there were cars.

This is the center area of the city. It was designed later in the city’s history. It has shops and arts and places to eat. It looks quite nice when walking.

Beer on tap is absolutely howling. At ÂŁ7 odds a pint you would expect a decent pint. It was the same last year, not sure if the pipes need cleaning or what.

This statue is huge. It’s so big sometimes they open it for people to walk internal stairs to the top. Lord Grey passed a big government reform and so they build this to honor him. It’s well done.

Always fascinated by the history of this but never found the time to do it until now.

Luckily met a couple of hikers who were also doing the walk and made two good friends who I could share the history of the wall with. walked the whole thing.

I’m not much of a long-distance walker so was really happy to walk the entire wall. If you don’t know your history it’s ok because it was well signposted all along the way. If you’re trying to fact check or have questions, the phone reception is terrible so store the questions in your phone.

The middle section was the only part which really needs some endurance on your part but it’s easily the most beautiful and that has the best section of wall.

Busses can help you hop forward to the next section, I didn’t get one so can’t elaborate on the times or cost etc.

The whole walk was first class, great to shake the cobwebs of Christmas off and get some fresh air and exercise! Definitely would recommended!

First-time visitors to Newcastle, we spent a lovely afternoon exploring the Ouseburn valley area on the advice of a local taxi driver, and so grateful to him , otherwise we would have probably just spent our time shopping/ eating at the well-known chain companies that all cities have! Ouseburn is fascinating, the community effort that has gone into regenerating this once run-down, derelict, little urban river valley and bringing back to life the abandoned factories and old industrial buildings, is just awe-inspiring. The jewel of it all we felt, is the Ouseburn community farm and Cafe. We planned to go back the following morning for breakfast, and so glad we did! I have to say, I wish I could travel back to Newcastle every day for this breakfast. All of the staff/ volunteers were lovely. Eager to help , and happy to answer all of our questions about the food and the farm. I had the Eggs Santiago and enjoyed it so much I’ve tried to recreate it at home every Sunday morning since! We had a lovely walk around the farm after breakfast. It is just wonderful and I have so much respect and admiration for everyone involved with it. Definitely recommend to any visitors, this community farm/ cafe is not to be missed 💗

Inside it’s the same as 25 years ago. For £100 a seat it was hard going. At interval we realised of there was a fire you would have no hope! It’s a shame it’s not moved on from the days of
Going to see Take that when I was 15! My old bones found the seating too painful .
