Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We've been wanting to do this walk for years and finally took the plunge on what turned into a beautiful day. Although we've been to quite a few of the places on the walk, there was still so many things that were new for us and some of the routes took us unusual ways.

You need to give yourself a decent amount of time if you want to take it at a leisurely pace, which we did. This being Sheffield, there were very few entirely flat sections, apart from some walking along the top of hills. There are lots of good places to stop on the way- cafes and public toilets.

We generally thought that the way was well marked, there were just a small number of sections where it could have been better, particularly when heading through the parks.

We did it in one day but there are four sections if you would like to do it in bits.

En route we saw- a heron, a kingfisher (never seen one that stayed still before), alpacas, countless robins, squirrels, all manner of cute dogs- and we even had a swing on a rope swing someone had put up- so definitely an adventure.

    Lovely memories to cherish.

We walked along the canal whilst staying in Sheffield over Christmas. A nice refreshing walk from Victoria Marina. A bit wet and muddy this time of year with quite a few cyclists along the way. Better during the spring and summer I would think but well worth doing. You can get the tram back!

We walked the length of this path and largely had it to ourselves. There is lots of birds and wildlife, but far more historic industrial buildings along the route.

Sadly one section collapsed recently into the river, but on a positive note, without the detour we would not have seen the memorial to Harry Brearley.

Wheata Woods and the woodlands & open country nearby (e.g. Greno Wood to the NE, and Wharncliffe Chase and Wharncliffe Edge to the north and NW) are a delightful and relatively uncrowded place to get out into the countryside and only a mile or so from the northern edge of Sheffield. Equally popular with walkers, runners, dog-walkers and horse-riders, there's also good access to extensive open moorland and opportunities to see a wide range of birdlife, but without the crowds of the Peak District to the south-west. There's one good car park on Woodhead Road (free parking) and more informal off-road parking too. Strongly recommended.
