Imperial Bird of Prey Academy Billericay
#1 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
Parking is easy and there are plenty of other things to see and do on site to make a great day out.
Nanny had a wonderful experience day while Grandpa, Mum and daughter then spent the day watching eating and visiting the rest of the site.
Boydells Dairy Farm Wethersfield
#2 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
Toilets clean, animals very happy, places to wash hands and not a massive site so great for all ages to walk around.
There's nothing hyped up or pretentious about this place, it's not overpriced and the interaction with the animals means that it beats other, more expensive, farms hands down in my view.
West Cliff Theatre Clacton-on-Sea
#3 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
The theatre itself is comfortable and every seat gives you a great view as the floor slowly rises the further you are from the stage in true West End style.
A bit hot, but a great experience with good sound quality and good views from all the seats.

The tower is a real gem! 111 spiral steps to the roof for amazing views of the Essex Coastline, 6+ floors with a changing art display and permanent museum and a ground floor café serving very delicious looking cakes!
Excellent coffee, delicious pastries, friendly and efficient staff, beautiful location and historic site.
Old Leigh Leigh-on Sea
#7 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
Walking here from our home in chalkwell along the waters edge we enjoyed stunning views across the Estuary whilst visiting our favourite pubs and enjoyed fresh seafood, fine wine and real ales.
It's a fantastic fusion of old and new, lots of good restaurants, pubs, seafood merchants, beach and ice cream all on a quaint cobbled street and a lovely view too!!
Chelmsford Cathedral Chelmsford
#8 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
There are many interesting paintings, icons and architectural features to view as well as two beautiful ceilings.
In the cathedral of Chelmsford you find more than one site of worship.
Royal Gunpowder Mills Waltham Abbey
#9 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
The Royal Gunpowder Mills is an extraordinary and unique manufacturing site that, for hundreds of years, produced the munitions and rockets that enabled the British Army to go to war.
They have a large car park and picnic points in the huge grounds, a trailer to take you around the old test sites and indoor experiments to make and watch, discounts for families.
Colchester Castle Museum Colchester
#10 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
Sitting on the site of an original roman temple from when Colchester was the capital of England this Norman Castle has seen the Middle Ages, the Civil War, being used as a gaol and now a fantastic museum.
Museum is really well laid out, with interesting artifacts and fabulous history of the area - it gave lots of other historical sites that are on my 'to-do list' next time I can get to Colchester!
Paycocke's House and Garden Coggeshall
#11 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
An excellent tea room and small shop on site.
Like many houses, its fortunes waxed and waned until it was put up for sale in 1904 with a view to demolition.
Epping Forest Epping
#12 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
We chose a 5 mile walk that took in some of the different things to see in Epping forest - Strawberry ponds, the Tudor hunting lodge, plains as well as forest walks, good paths and fine views.
... a walk in the forest It's with so many leave their rubbish expecting others to collect Take it home We travel the world to look for pleasure but the forest is a special place to view a wide variety of wild life .

Mountfitchet Castle Stansted Mountfitchet
#14 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
The kids loved the re-creation of an 11th century castle and community buildings on the original site: plenty of history, tons of interaction, animals to pet; the adults found it fascinating.
We fed the deer and various rare breeds of hens and geese, climbed the towers, enjoyed the views, pretended to joust, and took it in turns to be photographed in the stocks and other tortuous items!!

Marsh Farm Woodham Ferrers
#22 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
We went on the tractor ride, did potato picking and got to view the magic show as well as meet the pets and my son was allowed to walk a goat on a lead around the goat house!
The various 'sets' you move around are spread out around the site and have somehow managed to be wondrous and Christmassy without being garish or tacky - a tricky thing to pull off; our photographs are lovely as a...
East Anglian Railway Museum Chappel
#23 of 173 Sights & Landmarks in Essex
A working heritage site based at the rural Chappel railway station, near Colchester, on the edge of Constable Country and next to one of the largest railway viaducts in Eastern England.
It is a very large site, with plenty of room for expansion, and even the stacked-up rails proved to be interesting for the kids.
