Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Travel_Girl_ReviewsLondon, UK733 contributionsThe Clifton Suspension Bridge is an absolute must-see! It’s just a short, easy walk from the village, making it a perfect activity if you’re in the area. The bridge itself is an engineering marvel, and the views from it are simply stunning—spanning across the Avon Gorge with a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding landscape.
Best of all, it’s free to visit, which makes it an accessible and worthwhile outing for anyone. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or just looking for a scenic walk, this iconic spot delivers on all fronts. Don’t forget your camera!Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The surrounding gardens are really nice - would love to see them in spring/summer - and there's ample seating at the bottom to look out over Bristol. It's just a shame that the public toilets are covered in graffiti!
The stairs up to the 2/3 way viewpoint are narrow with a few points to just about pass people going the other way; the last bit of stairs to the top even narrower with no chance to pass each other. We were fortunate to only pass 1 person on the stairs when we went (3-4 at the top at the same time as us and a few arriving just after we got back to the bottom).Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So much to learn about the connections with the poets Chatterton, Coleridge and Southey. Also, Hogarth, Handel, Penn and, of course, Good Queen Bess.
"We had a lovely tour today – much enjoyed by all.Bryan as guide and organist was brilliant – please tell him"Written 4 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Like me you may even get to sit where Sir Winston Churchill, who was the Chancellor of the University of Bristol from 1929 until his death in 1965, presided over graduation ceremonies!Written 24 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - LauraDaveJamesSolihull, UK5,250 contributionsWe were a little unfortunate when we visited as there was some renovation work in progress and they were preparing for a large exhibition which resulted in some of the area not being open.
The staff are very welcoming and it’s well worth a look if you’re in the area.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wildricemanWeston super Mare, UK133 contributionsThis is definitely a place to visit and take in the history of Bristol.
The cemetery is a beautiful place for a walk and reflect on those that have passed. The work to restore this important site is to be commended and supported.
The cafe (and toilets) are clean and made a great stop during our visit. - LauraMBristol, UK151 contributionsWe went to the New Years Eve party at the Old Vic. It was brilliantly executed and great fun and extremely well organised. The entertainment was good and we enjoyed the soul food and also the bottomless drinks, The silent disco was also fun. We would definitely attend another year. We felt the tickets were good value for money and a great way to see in a new year.Written 12 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jemma GLondon, UK1,055 contributionsVisited for parkrun, taking in the steep uphill mile and a bit path and back down again. The top affords amazing views of Bristol, the path is a mixture of tarmac and unmade gravel. There are toilets and the cafe is nice, lots of choice including for vegans. Coffee is so-so, prices are pretty steep but service was really good. And there’s a 10% discount for parkrunners on a Saturday morning. Parking here can be tricky at busier times.Written 4 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

To see his home and read the history is upsetting but essential sadly

- DeliciousDelilahFerryside, UK263 contributionsYet another of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's great achievements, together with the GWR. Now part of a massive area renovation project. Look out for beggars, and panhandlers, so watch out for badly scripted sob stories. You have been warned!Written 4 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- URMIMALA BBristol, UK6 contributionsI visited the Arnos Vale Cemetery with my dad and his friends from Kolkata. It was a very peaceful place. We visited the tomb of respected Raja Rammohon Roy, often called the "Father of Modern India". He was instrumental in abolishing the Sati daha pratha in Bengal. The magnificent tomb was erected by Prince Dwarkanath Tagore and is worth seeing.Written 28 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
