Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- ZimminaroundtheworldOkinawa Prefecture, Japan1,982 contributionsI highly recommend a day trip to Rangitoto Island from Auckland. It's a 30 ish minute ferry ride. You pretty much come here to hike, so keep that in mind. There are no stores or anything on the island so come prepared for the day and wear comfortable clothes. The hike to the summit was easy and scenic. I also di the coastal trail which was my favorite. It took about 2.5-3 hours to complete the summit and coastal trail. The landscape was unique, you pass lava fields and beautiful coast lines. Just remember when the ferry departs, you don't want to get stranded!Written 7 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janine MPerth, Australia2 contributionsI have been visiting my partners family in NewZealand for 20years and we always like exploring but we were totally blown away with how special the caves are.Definetly the best attraction in NewZealand for me.
My partner originally a Kiwi was totally blown away none of his family had been there.
A must see.
Definitely for the adventurous.
My Darling is 69 and I'm 57 but I couldn't imagine alot of our friends being able to do it as they are overweight and not fit enough.
Thanks so much to the owners/ and host with the most.
Phil and Anne are definitely the salt of the earth people and we felt so privileged and inspired to meet them.
At 77 Phil guided us unbelievably, Sharpe, bloody fit bloody funny.

We arrived at around 7.30 and during this experience we had a variety of characters come out to give the meet n greet in Spookers style which is only a snapshot of the experience.
Please ensure you read the FAQs - regarding clothing, shoes, weather ID etc and I also advise you put repellant on before you do Cornevil.
We had zero expectation before we got there and were just open to whatever it had to offer. We weren't disappointed and all I can say is prepare for the jump fright, scream (yours and theirs).
Our favourite was Cornevil - imagine walking into a corn maze hearing screams, chainsaws etc and in the dark. Please note this is the experience that takes on average 45-50mins but we also know that it has taken some people much longer. Be careful with footing- shine the torch on the ground to avoid tripping etc.
The characters found out my son and his best friends name and occasionally started screaming both their names that added to all of the fun.
Thank you to the Spookers team for an awesome experience. We look forward to coming back to do the Woods.

- angchweeleng127 contributionsGet a good workout reaching the summit. If you want to play it a safe and give yourself more time to summit, visit the lava caves and take pictures, choose the 9.30am ferry to the island and 3.30pm ferry back.
Bring along a hiking pole to ease the pressure on your knees especially on the way down.Written 10 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had beautiful weather, luckily, as most of the park is outside. There were so many different reptiles! I especially loved all of the different turtles and tortoises, but the stars of show have to be the iguanas! Bit of a hike over hilly ground, which my elderly father found pretty tiring, but overall a fabulous spot to spend a couple of hours!Written 31 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelReviewerAuckland, New Zealand151 contributionsHas plenty of equipment for hire and multiple places that you are able to ski down the slope from. It is just one slope which is quite crowded. This leads to people falling over and then you will have to swerve around them. Otherwise it's a great indoor experience. They usually have the temperature around -5°c (23°f). The restaurant is very generic but is good for something to restore energy after skiing for a long while. Overall, I'd say it's a pretty good option for skiing in Auckland.Written 10 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PhoebeAuckland Central, New Zealand10 contributionsWent on a Friday afternoon and were helped by Ben who went above and beyond (literally) and even climbed so he could get some photos of me and my friend. He was an absolute super star from the get go with an awesome attitude. When he offered to go the extra mile for our photos we were so impressed. Looking forward to going back!Written 7 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Senita p1 contributionKids always have fun here. They burn off energy while having laughs, playing games, they love the b-ball hoop there and by the time we leave are always exhausted which is good for me. We visit frequently at the request of the kids. Good time for parents to catch up on work, read a book while the kids are running around safelyWritten 15 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
