Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful views of the city of Auckland nice walk we enjoyed as a family 2 adults 3 children great photo opportunities definitely worth the trip. As Australian tourist we loved it. Google maps seemed to struggle finding the place took us to potters Park instead but we managed to find it.

Bit of a curate's egg. The memorial aspect related to those who served in the military was superb and, of course, the Maori section was excellent. But there was close to nothing about the colonial aspects of the settlement of Auckland. Disappointing but I guess not surprising these days.

We did a private guided tour with Chris and had an amazing time on this beautiful island. Chris knew so much about the birds and was expert at spotting them - we saw just about every species (of course the spotted kiwi only come out at night though). This is a must-see if you are in Auckland. I highly recommend the private tour - it’s very reasonable and you are so much more likely to see birds if you are not in a big group. The ferri ride to the island is quite nice as well. A big thank you to the volunteers who make this place possible. Bringing back endangered species is no small task. Chris also gave us some great recommendations for places to go on our trip around the north island.

Located nearby to Motat and also one of the stops for the Explorer Hop On/Off bus, the Auckland Zoo offers visitors the chance to see New Zealand’s endangered and unique wildlife.

International visitors have to pay an entrance fee which is reasonable given the size of the Zoo.

The enclosures are large and spacious offering visitors to get close to some of the animals.

Other parts of the zoo have information boards about species that have gone extinct and the Maori’s connection to the flora and fauna.

Visitors can see takahe, kaka, tuatara and NZ’s famous kiwi birds.

The zoo is a great place to spend the day for young and old alike.

I highly recommend a day trip to Rangitoto Island from Auckland. It's a 30 ish minute ferry ride. You pretty much come here to hike, so keep that in mind. There are no stores or anything on the island so come prepared for the day and wear comfortable clothes. The hike to the summit was easy and scenic. I also di the coastal trail which was my favorite. It took about 2.5-3 hours to complete the summit and coastal trail. The landscape was unique, you pass lava fields and beautiful coast lines. Just remember when the ferry departs, you don't want to get stranded!

The views were amazing. It's hard to get to if you don't have a car but we managed to book a driver. It was absolutely breathtaking!

This is an excellent art gallery with enough exhibits to suit all tastes. Lots to see and do and it is free. Plenty for children to do as well. Good cafe.

This museum is generally well laid out and mostly presented in time order. It seems to have a range of full-size and miniature models of various sailing vessels from the first arrivals. There is a suggested path to follow but that seemed to stop after a while and we were left ambling without direction. A good and well presented museum for sailing enthusiasts. We spent 45 minutes in the museum.

One Tree Hill in Auckland offers stunning city views, lush parkland, and rich Maori history. A peaceful spot for walks, picnics, and cultural exploration.

Hey, we just had the coolest family day out at Cornwall Park! The kids went nuts for the children's playground, while we parents couldn't get enough of the views. It's like, one minute you're watching sheep grazing peacefully, and the next you're staring at this crazy volcanic landscape. Talk about a trip through time! We packed a picnic and made a whole day of it. Seriously, if you're in Auckland with the fam, you've gotta check this place out. It's a total win for everyone!

After the rather soulless Auckland CBD, it was nice to walk a couple of kilometres to Ponsonby; a place with a good vibe, lots of people sitting at cafes, vintage stores and upmarket boutiques too. Loads of good restaurants and food options. And if you take a stroll down the side streets of Ponsonby Road, you’ll be charmed by the lovely period homes, wide tree lined streets and tranquility.

This is a beautiful black beach.
The views are breath taking, and the caves at the far end are well worth the walk.
And if you are willing to cross the stream by the entrance to go North, you are further rewarded by more beauty.

I walked Queen Street a few times while in Auckland and it was always an interesting experience. There are nice shops here both local and high end, same goes to restaurants. I found a few nice dessert shops here and bubble tea. Every time I was here, it was busy. It's a shopping street, I didn't really have any expectations, so it was fine!
