Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- FGG-DXBDubai, United Arab Emirates2,331 contributionsBeautiful wharf with lots of nice bars and restaurants. Great for an evening walk to enjoy the sunset over a drink. Bring a camera with a good zoom.Written 8 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sarah B4 contributionsLive down the road from kiwi esplanade. very amazing walkaway. love to go walk here every weekend when i get the time.
Some weeknds can get dodgy people from mangere dirving fast and playing loud music but mostly its peaceful and relaxing to walk in beautiful surroundingsWritten 1 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The council promised to start repairs on the stairway down to the beach in February and have it finished by today. The reality is they have yet to even start! So much for the Auckland Super City...…...Written 31 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lisa HBrisbane, Australia651 contributionsNice short walk to the summit from the car park - found it steeper from the bottom of Summit Drive (if you need the cardio boost). Lovely views, no shade so wear a hat if you need to. Great location for families & there are dog training & park facilities that appeared well used & what looked like goat trails.Written 20 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 529grahamrAuckland, New Zealand70 contributionsAlthough we are in Lockdown due to Covid I am lucky to live within walking distance of this beautiful garden. Not all of it is available to visit but just being able to walk a little way in on the track and relax amid the greenery and tall trees is so restorative.Written 1 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelsWithPhillipAuckland, New Zealand345 contributionsJuly is the middle of winter in Auckland and is the time when Phillip has a two week school holiday break. We went to the Hunua ranges regional park and walked through Suspension Bridge Loop which takes one and a half hours from start to finish. This track starts with a suspension bridge which is made out of wood and there can only be 3 people on top of the bridge at same time for safety concerns. Before you enter the bridge make sure you use station to clean your shoes in order to prevent the Kauri Dieback disease from spreading to the native trees.Written 13 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 422ianaDunedin, New Zealand3,601 contributionsWe started on Gracechurch Drive and did not realise there was a main car park. This helped us as there was a short walk up the hill but then gave us a longer walk with a loop. The main path is concrete and can be accessed by wheelchairs and pushchairs but if your doing a loop walk there are a lot of stairs and can get muddy. Some nice views across the valley.Written 7 September 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JoeDukeAuckland, New Zealand107 contributionsdropped off into the village/township to help a friend attend to various government body visits, and chose to stroll home along the front - something I haven't done since my children were youngWritten 31 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AcinetoAuckland Central, New Zealand24,332 contributionsThe Pararaha Valley is the midpoint between Karekare and Whatipu. It can be used for shorter loop walks from either end or become the midpoint if you go from one to the other. You go up the hill from either side and descend to the valley.
Although there are boardwalks in some places, the other places were quite wet as it traversed through the wetland. We had to cross the stream to get across and it was about thigh high. There is a campground in the area on the Whatipu side of the stream.
There is also an access point from the track to the beach but the walk might require going through patches of water (it was high tide when we got there). It was fairly difficult trying to find it from the beach as there is no signage.
The walk here was fairly tiring as we had done the beach walk from Whatipu to Karekare and then gone up and down the Zion hill tracks to get here and then up the Muir track to get back to Whatipu.
Really quiet and nice views from the top of the Muir track staircase.Written 22 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is the area in front of the Wynyard Crossing.
The area has an information container as well as plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the harbour views. You have the Wynyard Quarter Restaurant on one end and the Viaduct restaurant on the other so there are plenty of food options. There is also an area for swimming. It is quite a nice place to just relax and take in the local ambience, particularly after a good meal nearby.Written 18 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Plaques are placed every five minutes or so, with photographs and explanations of what the location looked like at various points in history. You don't need a map, each sign tells you how to continue. I would suggest doing it in stages, as it's a bit much for one trip. It wouldn't be suitable for people with low mobility, as there are plenty of hills and steps. Definitely informative and a new way to see the city.Written 30 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - santo tAuckland, New Zealand7,404 contributionsI don't know why this park is still missing from the Trip Advisor List, perhaps because of its size, it is relatively small and less famous compared to One Tree Hill and Mt. Eden. However, this top of the hill park offers similar scenery views, as good as the others. View to the south to see motorway SH20, view to the north to see Sky Tower, view to the north west to see part of Waitemata Harbour. It is really a park with good views, visitors can simply walk or just sitting, or some flying kite, all for free admissions. Entry point is from Dominion Road, next to north west corner of SH20.Written 11 March 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
