Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tour was absolutely incredible!! Our tour guide, Matt, was not only immensely knowledgable about the destinations we were going to (Hobbiton and Waitomo), but also about Aotearoa as a whole. While we were on the 2h+ drive from Auckland to Hobbiton, Waitomo and back, we learned so much about various regions, landmarks, and the country's history. Matt was also incredibly kind, helpful, and hilarious.

My husband and best friend were also on the tour with me, and the three of us had an amazing time. This tour was absolutely worth the money and more - it truly was an unforgettable experience.

Whether you're in AoNZ for a few days, weeks, months or more, I highly recommend going with Auckland Scenic Tours!

The short version : The tour was amazing, and thanks to our guide Mr. Adil who was very knowledgeable and kept us very engaged with interesting facts and tips.

The longer version : We were picked up from our hotel in Auckland CBD at about 6.20 am and we went straight to Hobbiton via Hamilton. We reached Hobbiton by 8.30 am and grabbed a quite breakfast before starting off on the Hobbiton Film set tour at 9.00 am for a 2.30 hours duration tour. After the Hobbiton tour, we were taken straight to Waitomo Caves and reached there by 2 pm. The Waitomo caves visit lasted about 45 minutes.

Throughout our trip, Mr. Adil narrated the history, geography and economy of NZ. He explained to us about the flora and fauna of NZ. He dropped us back in our hotel at 5 pm.

The guide, Sean, was really good and attentive. He has a huge knowledge of all places we visited and made the trip more than comfy and perfect for everyone. I can highly recommend this tour! It is perfect if you want to see the best of Auckland in only one day. The view of Mount Eden was my personal highlight! And also all other stops were so worth to see and interesting!

A wonderful way to see Aukland nature from sea to sea. Local guides Kevin and Kelly were friendly, fun and knowledgeable. The scenery is gorgeous whether it's rainforest or beach.

We totally enjoyed the Hobbiton movie set tour from Auckland. Our driver Don, regaled us with historical information, sang traditional Māori songs, provided background on the areas along the route to Hobbiton, and made it a point to remember all the names of everyone (16 people) on the mini bus. We stopped at a mini mall with a cafe, a sushi spot, a bakery and a Mac Donald’s where you had the option of using the restroom and buying a takeaway lunch in the 20 mins allotted. It is a good tour to take and it is definitely a full day. Hobbiton tour itself is about 2 1/2 hrs. And now you can actually go into one of the Hobbits’ houses. The Hobbit house and interior was just completed a few months ago so this is a new addition to the tour.
If you are a LOTR fan, it is worthwhile going on this tour.
Our pickup time was 9:40 am and we got back to the hotel around 7:30. Don made sure to drop off all the passengers at their hotel and not just at the pickup point as he knew everyone had a long day. I recommend this tour.

I booked this tour based on the great reviews I had seen online and it did not disappoint! The tour meant as a small group ended up being a private tour for the 2 of us which was great! Grant our tour guide met us at the ferry terminal and first took us to the local town to have a look around and get some coffee. The first vineyard we went to we tried 7 wines! Can honestly say that we had some of the best wines we’ve ever tried there that we ended up buying some bottles to take home. The second vineyard was good, not our favourite, but with the beautiful views and sunny weather we could’ve stayed longer if we had the time. The wine was easy drinking and smooth. The third vineyard had Spanish influence through its decoration, food and wine which we loved! We received food pairings with all the wines which enhanced the flavour of the wine very well. We tried 4 wines and a ‘port-style’ wine which was my favourite and I am a white wine drinker. It is worth noting that all the staff at each of the vineyards were extremely knowledgable about all the wines we tried. They explained the wine making process, the flavours of each wine and the ageing and bottling process clearly. It was also great to have a guide who knew so much about Waiheke Island. Grant provided commentary and facts about the island as we drove around, took us to an amazing lunch spot that all the locals love (we did too) and when he found out I preferred white wine he adapted the tour to take us to a different winery that suited me (instead of a winery that had more red wines). Overall, we really enjoyed this tour and had a great time on Waiheke Island. I highly recommend this tour and in doing so you will be supporting a local small business which is so important. Many thanks to Grant for the superb day!

My wife and I took the Cheeky Kiwi tour to Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton, together with a dozen other tourists in a bus driven by Greg. It was a long day, starting with a 6am pick-up at our hotel. The destinations were fascinating and memorable, and Greg managed to squeeze in a couple of interesting hydro-electric dam sites along the way. Best of all, Greg kept us informed and entertained throughout the journey, offering a knowledgeable answer to every question. I had brought reading matter with me but never opened it. The only down-side was the price (NZ$375/person, including entry to the cave and Hobbiton, excluding lunch) but, well, NZ is an expensive destination. Residents complain about it as much as visitors do.

Had a great day - thanks so much to Craig for taking care of us. And thoroughly enjoyed the company of the others on the tour - lots of laughs, good wine and great food for the lunch. Highly recommend.

We’ve done a few Sky towers around the world, not the tallest one but tall enough to see the city. Not a must but you kind of have to do it at least once on any city that has one to get an idea of the size/lay out of any downtown area. Would recommend it as it’s walking distance from pretty much everywhere in the downtown area.
