Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Accidentally found - didn’t know this was even here but what an asset to the area. We popped in a couple of hours prior to closing and you certainly need that time to get the best experience from here. Extensive collection of items, restorations and historical information for Manawatu and beyond. Really enjoyed the ‘gig ride experience’…sit in a gig with a screen that takes you around Fielding. All the vehicles and machinery are certainly honoured when they join this collection. Well done to the many volunteers and staff who make this place happen. Will certainly recommend to those I know are passing through the area.

We recently attended a huge craft market at the big stadium at Mansfield. There was plenty of parking and the indoor stadium was perfect for the event. It is an excellent venue for large indoor events such as that. The acoustics were not that good but the lay out and facilities were great.

Right on the outskirts of Feilding is a real treasure, worth spending an hour or two just walking along the boardwalk and enjoying the fabulous native trees and the birdsong. We found it, almost by accident, when we saw the sign on Awahuri Road. Seems that mot of the region was clear-felled by the early settlers, but this gem was left, and there are kahikatea and totara many hundreds of years old. Plenty of seats for us older folks to rest along the way. And good toilets too. This is a "Must Visit" for anyone coming into the Manawatu.

Drove past heaps of times not knowing where they were. Massive scaffolding surrounds building. Too many steps & not easily accessible. Staff very friendly & helpful. They need better signage & easy access.

The lookout doesn't seem to get a mention in the local tourist guides, we only found about about it by chance. It's worth the drive up the hill (or a steepish walk) on a clear day for a view of Fielding and the surrounding ranges, including a spot of snow if your timing is right. The actual viewing 'platform' isn't much, but beware of a very tall bottom step that some people might have difficulty with. But there's still views for those who can't manage the few steps.

I visited the Feilding Farmers' Market recently. We arrived just as it was closing but saw an interesting range of local goods for sale and bought good quality fruit and vegetables, We will go earlier next time.

This is a superb all encompassing glamping/canopy accommodation plus walking experience.
Check out the Ridge Top Farm Glamping & Accommodation page under Trip Advisor to get the idea.
Stunning location, superb host in Sarah, amazing set up with spectacular views and scenery and a variety of walk options that all offer something different.
Day 1 of 9kms with an optional extra 4kms gets you up to 360deg views with the Central Plateau mountains to the north and the ousted one to the west around to Kapiti Island and top of the South Island to the South. By no means a difficult walk down through creek gorges and then slowly up to the ridge line and along that ridge back to the road. Add in the 4km to get up to the communications towers that tell you that you are at one of the highest points in the area.
Day 2 is 5km down in the southern area of the farm along creek gorges with the odd steeper section but again a very comfortable walk. If you are lucky you might see the woodshed/yards in operation as was the case for us with sheep due for a haircut the next day and rain forecast- time to get them in.
