Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had the beach to ourselves. Hard to find a good restaurant that was open, but we went during the low season. Nice to have a clean beach devoid of plastics.

We visited this beach in early January. Fortunately we arrived at 09:00 the morning and could choose the best picnic spot (it becomes very busy after 10:00). There is a lovely beach, and our grandchildren had a ball. I just find New Zealand’s water too cool to swim in. The children and my wife had no problem with the cool water. We also took a walk over the “mountain” to Shelly Beach. It’s quite a tough walk to go and visit this secluded beach. If you are strong and fit, it may be worth the walk. Anzac beach parking has some lovely picnic spots available under the trees with tables and benches (if you arrive early). There are also clean toilets and showers available. A lovely beach to visit for a sunny days outing.

A fabulous walk from Waihi Beach through to Orokawa. Probably one of the most picturesque walks around. Through trees on well maintained paths with constant glimpses of the blue sparkling ocean. Takes around 45 minutes each way. Highly recommended

This is gravel flat from waihi beach to bowentown about 4km. You can start opposite the surf shack on Emerton road to bowentown playground. Or start at waiiti reserve. Runs along the estuary suitable from 5 year old. There are no toilets at the playground. Cycle or walk. Kids loved this.

This place was a very lucky find, tucked away at the top end of Waihi Beach, which is itself a bit of a gem. Aidan is a great teacher, friendly, relaxed and full of passion, his energy almost literally transmits to his students and makes you feel very comfortable and confident . Everyone is treated individually, with a lot of care and attention and his advice is always very astute. Thanks again Aidan.
