Both my husband and i enjoyed the tour around the Treaty grounds with Hemi and the cultural experience was worth it. Thank you all for that.

I expected this to be small and disappointing being so close to town but actually it was a very impressive waterfall and the walk down to the bottom to get some good photos was beautiful. Don't be put off by the sign saying 30 min loop track, it is probably only 10 mins down and 10 mins up.

There is a good sized car park and a toilet block on site. A nice easy walk to multiple view points of the falls. A lovely water fall set in lush bush. Really thought this one stood out.

Great foresight from one man and an awesome community to make these magnificent gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed our well ome from Alan, wander through the gardens and greetings from the volunteer gardens and appreciate the amazing space, plants and environment.

Easy to stroll and enjoy for a well deserved donation contribution. We probably spent a little over an hour but could have explored more, but went to enjoy morning tea at Quails cafe on site. (Good food and coffee.)

Definitely recommend a chilled visit here

Was great seeing the kiwi and geckos. The museum and chair exhibits were small and unfortunately we ran out of time to see the trains and the outside areas. Was quite cool seeing the whale and moa skeletons.

Lovely, well-maintained track. Beautiful native bush, especially heartening to see so many mature and juvenile kauri trees and nikau palms. Thriving bird life - we were serenaded by tui and kereru. Spectacular views from several spots along the way.

Very varied walk which was great. Just took some water, and that was enough, no need for food because we only did 5kms

Nice drive about 30 mins out from Whangarei towards Tutukaka (where there are cafe's and other facilities available).
Turn off just before Tutukaka 10 mins sealed road to tranquil relatively native bushy area , a nice drive in itself through other Bays and nice spots to stop.
At Whangaumumu Bay turn left to public toilet area and good parking on shore line of lovely beach.

The glow worms and rock formations were really cool. Make sure you bring shoes you don’t mind getting wet or jandles. There is shallow water to walk through it ranges from ankle height to knee height depending on how far in you go. Well worth it.

You could see just as much if not more snorkelling than diving. Great experience and can recommend Dive! Tutakaka.

We were staying in Ahipari and found the entrance to the beach which is at the very southern end, you can then head North and enjoy all that 90 mile beach has to offer. Don’t fret about whether you have an AWD or 4WD, the sand is compact and safe and as long as you arrive a couple of hours after high tide, you are all ready to go. Enjoy…….

I bet this gets crazy busy in summer season. Great views and on a nice day you could easily spend a couple of hours here soaking it up.
