Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a beautiful bay and beach! One of the best I’ve seen in NZ. Water is crystal clear and shallow. Not busy at all when we visited in September. At the north end of the beach is a nice walk to whale bay. Also a beautiful bay and beach and even quieter than Matapouri.

This is a beautiful walk and well worth doing. At first you drive past farms and wonder if you are going the right way. Then you get to the parking area. From here it's a bit of a challenging walk. You need moderate fitness to get to the lighthouse. The scenery is well worth it with views out to the islands.

A beautiful beach in Matapouri Northland - the best of the surfing beaches in the area. It can get sandy when the wind is blowing however.

We were two couples from England visiting New Zealand. Touring around a bit after a fantastic cruise from Sydney to Auckland. We had booked Sailfish Cove to stay after I had seen it on Bookabach and fallen in love with it. It far exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation was fabulous. Spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable. The views amazing and the welcome from Gaylene and Harvey warm and so friendly and nothing too much trouble. We didn’t want to leave and would love to return. Amazing.

Tane Moana is the largest coastal kauri. The track is easy to get to from Nganaru, - the best way to go. the walk out is lovely but you will need a pick up car at Matapouri. Once you come out there is maybe a 2km walk along a local quiet road to the beach proper. Take $$$ for ice creams at the Matapouri shop.
Do not do this after rain it will be very slippery

Excellent service. From my original trip planning emails to my dive, service was excellent! They gave me in depth info about planning my trip and diving options on the north island. I was a nervous open water diver but they put me in a small group with an instructor to give me some TLC. Hannah was excellent with support so I gained confidence quickly and enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for making this a positive experience for me! Great company for beginner to advanced divers.

True to it's name, this cruise was a perfect day.
    We luckily had perfect weather.
It was first time snorkeling for my 80 year old friend and the crew were amazing at helping her.
Lovely sandwiches for lunch. A nice biscuit would have gone down a treat and all the fruit salad had gone by the time I got there - but that was nothing really. It was a great day out.

From the in store assistance to the lesson itself, the experience was excellent. Kieran was a thorough and attentive instructor who helped us all learn the skills to get up on our feet! Such a great time on the beautiful Tutukaka coast.

This trip couldn't have been more perfect, the Mazurka is a fantastic and affordable liveaboard, with proper toilet and shower, a big galley, double bedroom, triple bunk room and several bunks between.

Skipper Kevin and crew/dm Kent were an absolute pleasure to spend three days with - so much so we all went for pizza and drinks on the dock afterwards and didn't want to leave!

Having dived with Northland Dive a couple of times (and thoroughly enjoyed it) I was struck by the difference a liveaboard makes. Cruising from site to site on a large boat adds a whole new dimension to the trip, and I'm hooked. Lying back on the large deck in the sun watching huge cliffs pass by before sailing under a gigantic arch after a dive and a meal is heaven.

Mooring in an enclosed bay for the night is great too, I stuck my head outside one night and saw stunning blue bioluminescent critters everywhere in the sea. Amazing.

The food was stunning, did not expect that. Breakfast was pre-dive cereals etc, then after the first dive came a second fully cooked breakfast, another dive another meal - lunches were often a ploughman's to die for, the best cheese, relishes, divine, before the third dive and an amazing dinner ranging from curry to cous-cous (vegetarians catered for) and a few sensible beers.

The team have literally thousands of dives experience each, are superb photographers and extremely helpful above and below the water. The water-level stern platform and excellent ladder make entry and exit simple.

If you've read this far you probably already know that the Poor Knights was rated in Jacques Cousteau's top 10 dive sites worldwide, and for good reason. The diving is stunning and thanks to their local knowledge the weather isn't really a factor with sheltered bays all around the islands which they know inside out. They went out of their way to keep us happy doing whatever dives we wanted including a great night dive.

While we were only four groups of six should feel just as comfy - unlike the 13 divers we saw queuing up from bow to stern on another boat!! We never even bumped into each other :)

We choose Oceanblue because several of our club members had fantastic experiences with them in the past, and I'm happy to become one of them.

I'd go back tomorrow if I could, there's too much to see (and eat!) in just three days, and Oceanblue are the BEST!

    Thanks guys!!
    Geoff.
