Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

The collection of buildings on Parliament Hill is one of the most impressive sites in Ottawa - well worth seeing.

    Notes on West Block tour:

At the time I visited, the "Center Block" (the large central building including the fine library building and tall, central Peace Tower) was closed for renovations lasting several years. And the tour of the "East Block" was not available the days I was in town. I reserved a spot via the Web for a "West Block" tour. Really the only thing of note one sees on the 40 minute tour is the courtyard that has been converted into the interim House of Commons hall. It's a nice room but does not stand out vs. other national or state government halls. The tour provided some info about Canada's House of Commons but not a great deal of info.

View a pic of the House of Commons of Canada online (courtyard converted to room with green chairs) and decide how important that is for you to see. If it seems important, book a free tour for the West Block. If not, maybe prioritize a tour of East Block or other sites in Ottawa.

I wasn’t sure that I would have enjoyed myself going to the Canadian War Museum because it’s not really my scenery but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

We went there early and there was already lots of people roaming the Museum. Once there, I knew I would stay there for longer than I anticipated because there was so much to see and I wanted to take my time to see everything.

Every corner of the Canadian War Museum had something to offer and could be learned about. I went with the mindset that I wasn’t going to like it but I left the Museum feeling grateful that I had the opportunity to visit this place.

I recommend everyone to visit the Canadian War Museum at least one time in your life.

We are canal enthusiasts so to visit it was on our list of places which we wanted to see during our stay in Ottawa. We read the history of it's building on the information display. If we would stay longer in Ottawa we would like to take ride on the boat there - hopefully next time.

While we have lived here for a long time, we have never visited the Diefenbunker until now with visiting out-of-town friends. An excellent activity, highly informative and interesting. If you go, highly recommend the guided tour as it could be quite overwhelming to tour it on your own and you miss a lot of context and stories from the guides that make it so lively and interesting. Our volunteer guide had spent 3 months living in the bunker when serving in the military and had so much knowledge and many interesting stories to tell. There are great activities there as well - summer "spy" camp for kids, an escape experience are just a couple of examples. I left wondering whether there is a modern day "continuation of government" bunker and if there is one where is it hiding.

If you are making a day of it, recommend stopping for lunch at the Cheshire Cat Pub on your way into Carp, or the Ridge Rock Brewery taproom in Carp itself. Food is excellent and beers at both locations are great.

This museum is a must-see when you visit Ottawa. I loved how its galleries are laid out in chronological order of Canada's history. It rivals all the other museums I've visited.

Loved this Cathedral. Wonderful interior with beautiful stained glass windows. I would love going to Mass every Sunday here.

So much to see, be sure you have enough time. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Even though there was some work being done inside, it did not affect our visit at all. Great spot to
    Spend an afternoon.

It was my first time going to the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum and it didn’t disappoint. I didn’t know what to expect as I didn’t do any research before going so once there, I was surprised how big the aircrafts and airplanes actually were.

I’ve never been that close to any aircrafts so it was a nice experience to have in person. The different types, colours, shapes, etc were really interesting to see up close.

I didn’t know anything about the history of Canada’s aviation industry until I went to this Museum and there was so much to unpack and learn from.

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum is an activity for all and it’s kid friendly. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time for the Space section of the Museum but I’ll definitely go back. I truly enjoyed my time there and would recommend it to everyone even if you don’t like aircrafts and airplanes. You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

There’s also an area outside if you would like to go on a biplane ride. Overall, great experience!

We did not know you had to book a tour time in advance so do that online before setting out. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We had no idea of the value of investment and collection coins produced here, with the most expensive being a million dollar coin?! It's a quick tour (an hour) and they want you there about 10 minutes before you start as you have to go to the giftshop inside the building to wait.

It is situated in the middle of the Confederation Square. It's result of an international competition and was unveiled in 1939 by King George VI.

These locks are part of the Rideau Canal and are very cool and nice to see. Very well maintained by Parks Canada. Very worth it!
