Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Local residentPortsmouth, UK23 contributionsLovely pub restaurant and nice staff but unfortunately there were 20 of us and they were unable to cope with such a big party all at the same time. We waited for a very long time for our food which came up cold. Some people had finished eating whilst others were still waiting for their main course! A shame really. I would like to try it again with just the two of us but certainly can't recommend it for a large party.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tdechill59Kingston, NY4 contributionsMy wife and I have traveled to over 72 countries. We have done self-guided tours, private tours and a few group tours. We just completed a 13 day tour with All Points East. We decided to try this company because the max. group size was 12 people. On the first night's welcome meeting, we all introduced ourselves. One of the people there was Mark Ord, the general manager for All Points East, SE Asia. We also had two guides Aldrin, primary guide and Lim, a trainee. Mark said at this meeting that he was just there to observe and that Aldrin was the boss. There was nothing further from the truth. Each day Aldrin would tell us what the itinerary was for the next day and by morning Mark would change it. After a few days, you could see how frustrated Aldrin was becoming. It was also frustrating for the group. In the evening, Aldrin might say: OK tomorrow we are meeting the bus in town at 9:00am. The next morning, Mark would say: oh no, we are meeting at the hotel at 8:30am.
Secondly, Mark said that all included meals would be at local restaurants to support local businesses. Aldrin would pick the restaurants. Well the first night's dinner was so poor and minimal that most of us went out for a real meal afterwards. This continued, whether the meal was breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also, after looking at menus, all of these meals cost between $2 and $4 USD. This company didn't think we deserved better. Also, these restaurants were open-air and quite noisy. The temperature in most of Malaysia at this time was 98F and 98% humidity except in the highlands where it would cool down to the 70s at night. I said to Mark that locals also own enclosed restaurants with AC and a calmer atmosphere. He wasn't willing to spend a few more dollars per person.
Next, the two guides barely spoke during the entire tour. On a couple of days, Aldrin would give us a 15 minute synopsis of what we were going to see, but that was it. Lim, although a very nice person, was impossible to understand. One guest who had done much research often asked: "Why aren't we seeing this, that or the other thing in each city." Also, the majority of days we only had a half day tour. My wife and I would spend the half days going to see the sites that the company never managed to get to. This was all at our own expense for transportation and meals. Even some of the sites listed in the itinerary were never visited.
In all good consciousness, I could never recommend this company to anyone.Written 23 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
