Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Aaron GLos Angeles, CA286 contributionsThe Queen's Staircase is one of those obligatory, basic sites that just about anyone who visits Nassau is going to see... but it still has its heart, and still makes you feel like it's an intimate experience. Somehow, when my wife and I were there, we almost had it to ourselves, which made for a beautiful visit. And you won't need much time there - a half hour or so is plenty.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jill V1 contributionSmall fort that covers centuries of island history. We met the famous Michelle, who did our tour, it costs $5.50 payable at the gift shop. Finding it was hard. The driveway is off Bay St. look for the white obelisk in the median. Walk up driveway by the “Ft Charlotte Cashless” sign. Across from the public beach (past Junkanoo Beach with all of the food huts. ). Easy, safe walk from cruise ship docks.Written 2 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tammyBaltimore_MdBaltimore, MD2,350 contributionsInteresting structure (water tower), dates back to early 1900's, small fort nearby, and vendors set up on path. Definitely worth a photo op easy walk up the hill, just be careful with the steep steps.Written 8 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brendan SArlington, VA1,688 contributionsThis small house is the oldest wooden house in Nassau. It has hosted several famous guests including Hemingway and British royalty. The structure is original but there has been a lot of interior renovation and redesign. The most interesting feature is a staircase from a shipwreck leading to a landing evoking the bridge of an 18th century ship. There is period furniture but little that is authentic. The house is toured with a guide for a nominal fee and takes less than 30 minutes.Written 17 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tammyBaltimore_MdBaltimore, MD2,350 contributionsDirectly behind the pink Parliament buildings. Small & confined, but rich in Bahama history, and unfortunately I did not go in on this visit, but from past experience, library has/had 2 computers you can use to connect to the internet for $1.

Nice little area to relax and take in the peace and quiet. Also had some reading of history and it is the oldest fort on the island. So that was gray for the kids to learn. Nice quick stop enjoy and thank me later.Written 21 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- havlynNassau, New Providence Island478 contributionsI go to this beach often because it is quiet and out of town in Nassau. I when swimming on the southern side I notice to my amazement a school of nurse sharks. It was a great scene. Will be back!!Written 12 July 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Wayne PDownham Market, UK454 contributionsPart of our organised tour spent 30min here.
To be fair it was ok, telling you the history then in your own time go wondering around the colonial houses containing pirate stuff .
There is 2 pools there u can use so tempting. U get a taste of rum then you can buy some if you wish at the shop there is no pushy pushy.
Suitable for all ages but there is 99 steps down, then ur 2 min away from the shopsWritten 21 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Located in a historical building downtown and specializing in authentic Shipwreck Coins, pick up a piece of eight you can hang around your neck! The ladies at Coin of the Realm only sell coins that come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Karen helped us pick from at least 50 shipwreck coins and gave us the background and pricing explanations of each coin that we expressed interest in. After years of wanting a shipwreck coin, I finally came home with the ultimate Spanish treasure coin. When it comes to buying artifacts, it’s hard to find shops that you can trust. I couldn’t be more pleased and it was a wonderfully enriching experience. I wasn’t on a cruise ship, but if I was, coming back on board with Spanish treasure would make you the envy of the ship. Find your own piece of treasure down the side streets of Nassau at Coin of the Realm.Written 29 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
