Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely place of worship discovered on our walking tour. Step in to see the stain glass and architecture of its time.

Tons of shops of all kind from souvenir to expensive jewelry, eateries, and historical places to visit.
Coming in off cruise ship, definitely can't miss it.
If you love to shop without paying taxes this is your place.

Directly across from cruise port and on main Bay Street, definitely can't miss it.
Public can't really go into these state buildings, mainly for the higher legislative staff.
State funeral services going on during my 1 day in town, went on for HOURS.

It is off to the right of Bay Street. We stopped here on our way to the beach to look around and read the dedication to the first settlers here. There are benches and a nice view of the sea.

Did a cruise into Nassau with an old friend. I had researched it (this is basically the only thread on the topic). Don’t bother asking locals or cab drivers, the cabbie said I don’t think you can get there. I was skeptical given how old most reviews are. Told my friend I only gave us a 50/50 chance of success.

We took a cab to Atlantis, walked through the mall, hotel, outside area towards the beach. Passed multiple signs saying we needed hotel key to pass. Act like you belong, no issues. Finally got down on paradise beach and could see lighthouse in distance .

As others have said, it’s deep sand or walk waters edge to start. You get to the coral and definitely need sneakers or water shoes. I had a small backpack with that stuff. Go slow and don’t fall on the coral. The walls everyone mentioned weren’t an issue. The first one is where you walk through a yard to get around. The house is completely abandoned now. So didn’t feel like we trespassed. After we got off the beach we didn’t see a house that was inhabited or saw/heard any dogs. The second wall is a none issue at all. Just walk around it on water side.

The rest of the way is coral and some beach. Nice hike. Bring water and snacks. Took us 35 minutes to get out there. You can get inside, but the stairs up are pretty sketchy. Rotted wood and missing steps, I skipped going up it. Didn’t want to be stuck in a Bahamas hospital.

Coming back we tried to find a trail that connected the houses, but it’s either overgrown or doesn’t exist. Went back the way we came. Had concerns getting back into Atlantis, but when we got close to Atlantis we went up a stairway from the beach we saw workers using. That led us to a utility area and parking lots for workers. Walked out that way to the main entrance.

Have cruised past the lighthouse many times. Glad to see it up close.

Rawson Square in downtown Nassau is a nice and very busy place. You must experience the vibe. Locals are very nice cool people.

As you exit the cruise terminal walking straight ahead you will come to the main street which runs horizontal to the port and this is Bay Street. That is where the shopping is if that is your thing. Parlimant House and the statue of Queen Victoria are right in front of you and is a very good picture opportunity. The Straw Market is also on this Bay Street to your right. There is not much on Bay Street to your left. Parliment Street, getting its name from the Parliment house and center of Government runs up hill to East Hill Street. Not much there at all.
