Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Despite the weather being very windy and wet. We managed a good walk around the park. The lake is great and lots of ducks. The waterfall was very cool too. There is lots of parking. Will return in a better weather day.

Have been to this place a couple of times in the last month or so. The mall has got some decent eateries as well as Warehouse and Countdown where you can do some good shopping. Definitely, a nice place during the visit or otherwise as well.

Wonderful place to take the family for a picnic/bush walk. River is safe for the little ones to swim and paddle. Numerous bush tracks of different grades to walk/tramp. Also a camping ground if staying for the weekend.

What a lovely experience! Starting with the scenic drive from Wellington around the bay- Wow the views! Upon arrival we rented ebikes (it's worth it) to bike to the lighthouses. Walking is the other option (no cars allowed on the path). The bike rental person was very helpful, and off we went. Along the coastal path we found the bay to one side and mountains on the other side. To our surprise, we came upon several groups of mountain goats who were enjoying their afternoon tea. Being by the sea is glorious, with clean, chilly air, and gorgeous views. There are rocks/beaches between the path and the ocean- places to stop and soak in the view. Arrival at the (smaller) lower lighthouse is first, then on to the windy path up to the (larger) upper lighthouse. I walked my bike halfway then left it and walked the rest to the top. This day there was no time to enjoy the view- the wind was too strong! Riding downhill is easier, but the wind is against the return ride.

Even in the rain this is my favourite easy track. Amazingly sheltered and hardly even got wet with the canopy above

A beautiful part of Wainuiomata laden with native forests and dissected by a swimmable river. There is also a historic aspect to the area as it is the location of two dams that once supplied water to Wellington.

The choice of pools for all ages, ie the large pool and there's also the wonderful water slide. Toddlers pool, and Spa pool too.

This is a delightful, well maintained reserve. I was very impressed with the care taken in this area at keeping the paths and bushes tidy. The bush area is fantastic and the public toilets were clean. Definitely to be recommended. A great place for a summer picnic.

About a short drive from the bottom of the valley in Wauinuiomata is the Catchpool Loop Walk, which I,m glad to say is an easy days adventure for all the family. Allow 2 hours comfortable walk in & 2 hours return, but you won't be disappointed. A gradual ascent into the hinterland and only a sharp drop down Jacob's ladder, a zig-zagging drop, to the valley floor, for a rest or picnic.A wind proof jacket woul;d be advisable, plenty of water & good hiking shoes. Insect repellent advisable and limited cell phone coverage. Plenty of good carpark's & toilet area. Elderly retirees are often seen on the trails so no cause for alarm, an easyily achievable day out.
