Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- ZimminaroundtheworldOkinawa Prefecture, Japan1,968 contributionsI spent a day at Taroko Gorge and everything here was amazing. Swallow Grotto was definitely a highlight. The landscape is so dramatic and beautiful. Pick up your hard hats and watch out for falling rock. The views anywhere along this area are spectacular. There was even a cafe that served great coffee and snacks. Highly recommendedWritten 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Timothy PKalamazoo, MI22 contributionsWe had two private tours with Allen. He was a fantastic guide. He has an in depth knowledge of the history, geography, and culture of the Hualien area. He’s especially knowledgeable about the aboriginal population.
We were disappointed that Taroko National Park remains closed. The impact on local tourism is really unfortunate. That said, we really enjoyed our 3 days in Hualien that was made more special because of our time with Allen. He went out of his way to tailor our days to activities we enjoy, including an hour at a secluded ocean swimming spot, excellent lunch choices (the Amis Aboriginal restaurant and finished one day finding us a food truck selling scallion pancakes. Thank you Allen!Written 8 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. TVT has standard itineraries for cruise ship visitors but we worked with Kierra to develop a unique private itinerary. She was excellent in making recommendations that would fit into our limited time in port. We booked and made a deposit of 10% of our tour cost via PayPal with the balance to be paid to our driver/guide. That is quite reasonable compared to full advance payment required by other tour operators.
Then came coronavirus. Our cruise line made significant itinerary changes that affected our arrival date into Keelung. We went back to Kierra who was very helpful in changing the date of our booked tour in Keelung and in developing another itinerary for an additional day we now had in Taipei. Everything looked great. But then Taiwan announced it would close its ports to all international cruise ships. We no longer would make it to Keelung or Taipei. So we went back to Kierra again and asked for a refund of our tour deposit. Within an hour, we had notice from PayPal that a refund was being processed.
It's said you can judge a company by how they respond when things don't go as planned. Our experience with Taiwan Vista Tours was excellent. Huge shout out to Kierra who was responsive, patient and sympathetic to our ever-changing situation. When we're in Taiwan in the future, there is no doubt we'll use Taiwan Vista Tours.Written 9 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We booked Meet My Guide for the hiking in Datong and Dali area in Taroko National Park. It was two days hike with one night spent in an aboriginal accommodation.
The whole experience is very pleasant and hassle free: Wei, our guide, picked us up from our hotel in the morning before the trip started. He knows the route well, arranged the permit for us and also kindly prepared some snacks for the journey.
The hike was challenging but fun. You would see many beautiful mountain landscape, have the chance to dip into the rock pool for a swim, chat with local/aboriginal people, see the stunning sunset and sunrise close to the accommodation, not mention the delicious home-cooked dinner and breakfast!
If you enjoy hiking and wants to experience the national park more than the typical landmark, it is a must-do!Written 30 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
