Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tranquil and relaxing area. If you are into just enjoying scenery and birds singing... this is you. Not many shops but lovely

The Alpacafarm was amazing, the Alpacas were so cute.
We had a great stay, the hosts are very friendly and gave us detailed information about the alpacas. Two alpacas were born during our stay. The accommodation has everything you could wish. The House is well equipped.

This spot is well worth a visit whether you are onto bird watching or just want a walk. Good paths - a couple of steeper parts but shouldn't stop most people. Different length walks depending on how keen you are but something for most people. Good viewing points, great for watching wildlife- mainly waterfowl, take your binoculars. 1km off the main road on a gravel road. Note no dogs!

Loved looking through this lil shop. Well priced and all in immaculate condition. I bought something but wanted to buy more! Friendly service as well. I think it is well worth popping in.

Just a short 20-min drive from Te Anau town centre and you will find the beautiful Kepler Mountain View Alpaca Farm, where the wild wool gallery is housed. My family went for the alpaca farm tour and visited the shop after that. Several handmade quality alpaca wool products by the talented Jessie who owns the farm with her husband, Ray. You will also find other NZ/alpaca souvenirs in the shop at very reasonable prices (the alpaca scarf was slightly more expensive at CHC airport even after 30% discount). Jessie and Ray are such dears and I hope more will learn of their farm and shop and give them support!

We did the overnight Doubtful Sound cruise with RealNZ. We were nervous due to some sketchy weather and were worried we spent a decent chunk of change for nothing. We couldn't have been more wrong!

First, huge hat-tip to the crew. The young ladies (Molly, Ashley, Hannah, and Grace) were attentive, super friendly, knowledgeable, and service oriented. It was fun to see how genuinely excited they were to experience the Sound's teeming waterfalls. The captain (Riordan, I believe) had an open bridge policy and we chatted with him for a while. Super nice guy and an incredibly experienced sailor. The cook (never caught his name) made delightful meals from scratch, as well as all kinds of snacks and other treats.

The sights are amazing. Do the overnight tour for more time in the Sound to ensure you see as much as you can. Jump in the kayaks even if it is raining. Eat as much as you can.

This tour was professional and worth every penny. NZ has a lot of highlights, and this is certainly one of the best.

We were blessed with a sunny day in one of the wettest places on earth. So don’t count on that but you can count on a great crew of three that are fun happy people. You get to catch your own dinner and pull own lobsters. See dolphins seals and no humans except your few boatmates It’s a small quiet boat with ten around a small table eating good simple fresh fare. You will talk and laugh and share photos while you eat but there is room and time to be alone It’s not the ritz but the views and experience are unforgettable

Excellent experience. It is a remote area so getting there and back takes 2 van/buses and a water taxi. The driver, Clint, was great! He pointed out interesting sites out and on the way back. Brodie, our guide. Was excellent. He was also very informative. He took safety seriously which I appreciated. The team has this down to a science and keeps a strict schedule. Despite being the oldest by far on this trip, we had a great time. It was a beautiful day and the area was beautiful and peaceful. A quality outfit and experience!!
