Worth a walk down a long staircase for a small fee to a large waterfall, guided by local school children, who are raising money for their school.

My girlfriend and I did an amazing 2 day hike in the western Usambara Mountains with Said. It was my second time hiking in Usambara with Said as a guide, and the experience was amazing as always.

Said is a very experienced and knowledgable guide, who will tell you everything about the Usambara Mountains, it's nature and it's local farming communities. Said arranged accommodations for us both nights, staying in a very nice homestay in Malindi the first night and in a very beautiful and truly peaceful sister's convent on the second night. Said provided lunch during the afternoons and we enjoyed his famous homemade guacamole wrapped in locally baked chapatis! Absolutely delicious. Furthermore, Said knows his way around the Usambara viewpoints and peaceful spots, so we enjoyed our lunch in great surroundings both days.

We will definitely recommend Said and Usambara Adventures if you're looking for a great hiking experience in the Usambara Mountains!

    In one word: amazing!
We did the 4 day hike from Lushoto to Mtae with our wonderful guide Chris and loved every bit of it! The communication with Ally prior to the trip was smooth. Chris is very kind, knowledgeable about nature, people and the local villages and good company to walk with. The hike was beautiful, the views were stunning and we loved the change of scenery when we entered the Shagayu rain forest. Also the accommodations and food was great. Asante sana for this awesome experience in the Usambara mountains!

The trip with our guide Hassan was great. He really knows his environment, and could spot chameleons from far! His freshly made lunch (tanzania guacamole) was amazing. After an intense hike, a lunch in a meadow with mountain views. Thank you Hassan!

We are a couple from Belgium. 🇧🇪
We did a 3 days hiking in Usambara mountains with our tour guide, Bakari. Very unique and unforgettable experience. We were lucky enough to see almost 20 chameleons during our while hike. Including a baby chameleon❤️. Bakari is a very professional guide, told us about the mountains. We pass through some villages which was really amazing, specially meeting local people from the mountains.
1st night we slept in Bush Baby homestay, really comfortable stay and the host is very welcoming. 2nd night was in Sisters convent, very unique experience. And to end our hike, our last stay is in Magumba View Cottages. a panoramic view from our room. Top! You should do this hike when you go to Tanzania. Worth it!

We hiked with Kassim through the picturesque hilly landscape around Lushoto on a beautiful, sunny day. It was very informative, entertaining and a great experience overall. Highlight was a break at Irente Viewpoint with a great view of the lowlands to the west of Lushoto. Kassim introduced us to people, game (countless chameleons!) and flora around Lushoto. We would book with Eco Tours again at any time and especially hike with Kassim. A clear recommendation to fill a day in Lushoto with a great, varied program!

We met with Murtaza at the bus station in Lushoto and from the start he was very friendly, calm person, who helped us with the transport to the hotel. He organised for us 2 days trip to Waterfalls, View point and the rain forest. It is incredible how much knowledge he has got about the nature, plants, the history of the region in Usambara Mountains and I learned from him more than I ever did at school. He was great and patiently answering all our questions. We had a lunch in the middle of the forest, great guacamole. He involved everybody in preparing the lunch and we felt like a one family.
Walking through some villages he adjusted his speed of walk to us as we were making many photos of the mountains and talking to people. I was more than happy with the trips, Murtaza is an amazing guide and such a beautiful person not only from outside but also from inside, he helped us with the bus tickets and on the day of leaving Lushoto he called to say goodbye. I will never forget the Usambara mountains and the time I spent there. Big Thank you Murtaza.
