Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Chand was an amazing guide during our tour. He send us before all the details of the 4 day hike in Usumbara, including information about which bus was best to take from Moshi to Lushoto. He helped us with everything, could tell us a lot about the region and Tanzania and everything was arranged very well. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was on point every day and accomodations arranged were great. Helped us out with everything. Highly recommend to use as a guide for trips, e.g. Usumbara Mountains!

We spent a couple nights in Tanga this past August and wanted to visit some nearby attractions. I contacted Livan Tours when we arrived and they very quickly arranged for us a reasonably-priced excursion to Tongoni ruins south of the city. The driver was excellent and everything went very smoothly. The next day we did a second excursion with Livan Tours, this time to Toten Island. We were again very pleased with our experience: the guide was on time, attentive and professional and gave us a great tour of Toten Island and shared with us his in-depth knowledge of local history and culture. I would certainly recommend Livan Tours for anyone visiting Tanga, and I would definitely use their services again the next time I’m in the area.

In December 23/January 24 we travelled for two weeks with Ally, the guide/manager of Mambo Green, through several national parks and on hikes in the Usambara Mountains with the guide Joseph, who belongs to MamboGreen. We felt exceptionally well guided and can definitely recommend individual planning with the two of them via MamboGreen for people who like to travel individually. MamoGreen is an extraordinary place in the Usambar Mountains with a breathtaking view of half of northern Tanzania. The ecolodge is excellently run and we always felt welcome and looked after. The chef is fabulously creative and prepares fresh, plentiful and very tasty meals three times a day.
The owners have been working non-ideologically for 15 years, with great empathy for the culture of the people and very sustainably to improve the living conditions of the people in the surrounding villages and to protect this unique natural environment, which is the basis of life and home of the people. A foundation belonging to MamboGreen supports a variety of projects.
When you travel or stay with MamboGreen, you can be sure that all investments made during the trip stay in the country with the local people.
As well-travelled travellers, we can highly recommend both the MamboGreen EcoLodge and the tour company associated with MamboGreen.

Dennis is literally the best guide to take when trekking in the Usambara mountains, he knows pretty much everything about the area and is so friendly. He brings a lot of fun to the trek especially with spotting (karma karma) chameleons and taking us to amazing places to stay along the route for a well deserved rest !! His English was amazing as well as him engaging with us teaching us bits of Swahili!!

Would 100% recommend to anyone who is doing the trek as he’ll make it so memorable!

We had an amazing multiday hike with Rashid in Lushoto. He shared many fun facts about the nature and animals we saw. The hike itself had amazing views and was doable! Just make sure you wear good hiking shoes. Lushoto is a hidden gem in Tanzania. Highly recommend.
