What travellers are saying
- Mariam M4 contributionsWe arrived for our 3 o’clock wine tasting session and was greeted by the most amazing waitress who took us to our table with the most incredible view. Whole extras just magical from beginning to end.Written 13 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Geoff HSissinghurst, UK9,374 contributionsPyrgos is well worth visiting because, after the hordes of people in, and the hustle and bustle of, Oia and Fira, it was an absolute delight to bathe in the quietness of Pyrgos. It was a pleasure to wander round the empty streets (if you can call them that because they are so narrow) of the village and walk up to the top, where there are very good views of the surrounding countryside.Written 8 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Justine S16 contributionsThe castle ruins are at the top of the town, and are really a view site with a lot of broken walls. the church at the top was closed when we visited and we ended up having a cooldrink in the restaurant at the top and taking some pictures. The castle ruins can be accessed from two directions, the back way (Google maps takes you to this route) which is not advised and by walking up through the charming alleys with shops on the way.Written 4 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ELENA KOLONIARI2 contributionsHatzidakis winery is an excellent choice . The family is running the winery and this love and dedication to the nature reflexes at their wine productions . Wine tasting by Roula the sommelier was excellent as me and my mother understood beside the wine processes , the unique taste of each wine . - anikolopoulosAndover, MA63 contributionsWe spent an afternoon with Eugenia on June 29th. She met us in Fira and picked us up in a nice Mercedes air conditioned van with her driver Kostas. Eugenia made sure my daughter got all the Insta worthy shots she wanted. She even took us to some out of the way spots that were not overrun with tourists. She spent time explaining to us the history of the island and answering any questions we had. We also went to the Profitis Ilias Monastery which had beautiful views of the island. At the end of our afternoon she took us to a winery where we had a tour and we were able to sample several wines. When she dropped us off, she even made sure we were able to find the restaurant we wanted to have dinner at. We had a wonderful afternoon with Eugenia and highly recommend her services. My husband and daughter still talk about our afternoon as one of the best highlights of our vacation.Written 9 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jewel r1 contributionOur tour guide Amani, was able to create an itinerary according to our wishes. The itinerary was flexible considering the needs of our group, which was composed of families and friends from different age-groups. And still we were able to see and visit a lot of places. She was very informative and knowledgeable. She picked us and dropped us from
And to the airport which added to the convenience and saved us our time.Written 16 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. F's knowledge of the island made the experience super interesting and educational as well. George also was very communicative with me prior to the trail experience via WhatsApp and even helped me organise a suprise birthday cake for my partner as we watched the sunset! You really can't get an authentic (not-so-touristy) experience like this one on Santorini! It takes you away from the busy crowds and lets you visit the quieter and more stunning areas of the island. Our favourite part was going for a swim at a more private black sand beach! The views as you drive in the Jeep Wranglers are sensational too. We also were provided with a fantastic Greek bbq when we pulled up to a quiet location outside a gorgeous Greek church. The food was brilliant! To top it all off we had a private transfer to and from our hotel for no extra cost. Thanks so much guys, this was an unforgettable experience!!Written 9 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jasdeep10 contributionsMe and my friends had an excellent experience with Pyrgos rent a car! We initially planned to rent an ATV but was advised to rent a car which worked out better for us! Prices were good and everything was explained to us thoroughly giving us the peace of mind we needed! Highly recommend!!Written 18 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Geoff HSissinghurst, UK9,374 contributionsIn front of the Castelli of Pyrgos is a square on one side of which is the church of St Nicholas. In front of this church, and also in the square, is the Agios War Memorial. This needle-shaped memorial honours those who fell in the Balkan and Greek Turkish War (1912-1921). It is a fair climb up from the village but, once at the memorial, the views make the effort worthwhile.Written 4 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rupi HNew York City, NY8 contributionsMy husband and I took the T2 cooking class and it was honestly a joke. Upon arrival we received a glass of wine and an agriculture lesson which was informative. However, it it quickly went downhill from there. We were led to the kitchen area and for the "cooking" portion of the class we were asked to cut up onions and tomatoes for the fritters. And that was where the cooking lesson pretty much ended. From here on, the chef mixed another couple of ingredients, fried the mixture and then showed us how we can present these fritters in different ways. This "lesson" lasted 30 minutes max. For the remaining two hours, we were told to sit down in the dining area and choose our main dishes and dessert from the menu. We paid 80 euros each plus 60 euros on cabs to basically cut up onions and tomatoes. I was under the impression that within a group we will each work on either the app, main dish or dessert. That was not the case. There was also no museum tour which was listed in the itinerary. When we were sat down after our "lesson" the owner asked us what we thought of the class and we told her it was very disappointing since all we did was cut up some vegetables. We also asked about the museum aspect and her response was that it's under construction. There was no money refunded or any sense of remorse. The only reason I am not giving this place a one star is because the food was good. But do not call this a short cooking lesson if your customers don't get to cook. A complete waste of money.Written 31 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
