Limit search to Ormskirk.
Windmill Animal Farm Burscough
#1 of 2 Sights & Landmarks in Burscough
good place to go with pleanty of animals and a 0.43 mile railway line running through it from windmill farm station through pensioners halt and round the lake into lake view station.
We went on a train ride which is extra but worth it as it's an old train and good views around the farm.

It is a small site, but the gardens are stunning (quite a few gardeners out and about during our visit).

We always come to the Southport flower show and stay on the caravan club site.
This half mile walk along Rotten Row will fill you with admiration for the work that has gone on in restoring this historical site to its former glory.

Having been on nearly all the possible Beatles tours in Liverpool and having seen all the sights on a number of occasions, I can report that the Casbah Coffee Club tour is one of the best.
This is a must visit place if you wish to view the history of the Beatles and the Merseyside era

Antony Gormley's Another Place Crosby, UK 14.4 km away
#1 of 2 Sights & Landmarks in Crosby
My aunt loved them as well as seeing the views up the River Mersey, The Liverpool Bay and the Irish Sea and the Wirral Peninsula and the hills and mountains of Wales.
It has helped to put Crosby on the map and having sculptures looking out to sea enhances the already wonderful view from the Hall Road West car park (as children we used to call it 'The Erosion').
