What travellers are saying
- chandsajeshni1 contributionIt was an amazing experience. There was a lot to see. There were very interesting art and sculptures to see. It was surprising to see our objects could be recycled and transformed into a spectacular art piece.Written 17 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Donna TAuckland, New Zealand301 contributionsCute little village. You must stop if passing. Some nice shops and a few restaurants/cafes. Parking can be a bit hard to find, but then again just park a bit further away and have a nice stroll.Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jacquitohcAuckland Central, New Zealand511 contributionsMatakana Markets: great snack/munchies venue - breakfast/brunch heaven. I have gait/walking challenges (stroke); I wear a legbrace. A crush of patrons, live music was heard following us. Flowers, food stalls, olive oils, Dutch produce, bakery, deli treats, fresh mozzarella, even bags, crafts & gluten-free pies, and more... Drooling French pastries, we finished them and queued again for some to take home. Delicious food, wares to take home or gifts; wandered through the charming township, found some more product-browsing; brilliant day out.Written 29 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- adwpjwAuckland, New Zealand17 contributionsThe main restaurant has a great menu, great prices and two roaring fires in winter. There is also the added option of Tapas at the Smith Bar. Smiths has great pizza and great weekly specials. Highly recommended.Written 17 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Nifty2013Auckland, New Zealand149 contributionsHad a wonderful lunch here today- a shared platter and some wine from their cellars. As always, everything was delicious and well-presented, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the grounds around were tended with obvious care making our afternoon a most enjoyable one! Well worth the hours drive from Auckland.Written 26 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TURNERONapier, New Zealand42 contributionsWe have visited this memorial quite a few times over the years. Quite small but always well kept. A quiet place for reflection. Couldn’t get to the memorial his time around due to covid19, but will return here once the pandemic is all over. Lest we forget.Written 26 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Cher P19 contributionsMatakana Estate is a must visit if in the area and you appreciate a variety of locally made wines. The staff are friendly helpful and very knowledgeable. These fine wines are delicious . Weather was shocking but the ambience was lovely . - Linda MAuckland Central, New Zealand90 contributionsI visited Omaha Bay Vineyard for the first time on Saturday. The weather was bad when we first left Auckland but, by the time we arrived at OBV, the sun was shining. The view alone is worth the visit! However, the wines were also worth the time taken to get there. I enjoyed the Flora - tasted like a cross between a riesling and a pinot gris. Lovely : ) We didn't eat there but the service was very good. The gentleman on duty was welcoming and knowledgeable. I will certainly go again.Written 5 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Samuel Würzinger1 contributionI had a lot of fun snorkeling even though the water was pretty cold. The teacher was nice and helpfull, the information and tips provided were interesting. - jacquitohcAuckland Central, New Zealand511 contributionsIn Matakana for the afternoon, popped into Morris & James pottery - a cafe as well, full of colourful pots of all descriptions, ornaments, wall hanging and more. I have gait/walking challenges (stroke); I wear a legbrace. Lovely pottery, art & wall hangings in a cavernous interior space and pleasant exterior. Coupled with the cafe, gifting or homewares – nice day out & shopping as well.Written 30 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
