Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The expert and humerous commentary, beautiful landscape, comfortable cruise boat, mussell farms, beach lunch stop, interesting mail delivery stops - excellent value for money at $140 each for around 7 hours entertainment. At a very small cost, the cruise could have provided biscuits with the hot drinks

Deano went above and beyond expectations. We almost took the mailboat again but this was recommended to us and it was the best most entertaining day. We were taken to a jetty to swim, dropped to a bay for lunch, another bay for a beautiful secluded coast walk and then to the mussels. All 6 of us are sure to book with him again and have already recommended to all our friends and family. Thanks again!

We went out to Maud Island with about 26 people on board and had a great time on the island. I did feel that the boat was a bit small for the amount of people on it as we were all crowded without much room to move about. It would be great if they offered or bought long seats for the benches as it was quite uncomfortable having to sit for the 6 or so hours we were on there. Take heed about bringing something warm to wear even if it's in summer. On the way back we were freezing without much shelter. The inner cabin wasn't very large and there were already people sitting in there so had it started to rain or something, not everyone could fit in there. The sounds are unpredictable. Had the sun been out we would've been fried. It rained very slightly but thankfully not a lot but be prepared for all of the above!

The captain was informative but would be nice if he could find more to say about the sounds or animal life. It would also be nice if he could inform people how much longer it will be when coming back to the dock as it felt like it took forever. We did get back about 15 minutes early which was appreciated.

A better safety briefing would be good as well. Most that I've been used to hearing lasted a lot longer than his did. Saying the lifejackets and such were on TOP of the boat isn't going to help very much if people need them right away. They should be accessible although it didn't seem the boat would allow that.

Upon the first tea time there weren't enough goodies for everyone and I think that was the only time they were offered. Bring your own food as you may get hungrier than you think.

We didn't actually have a choice of providers for this tour, but nonetheless glad we went as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I think with the changes suggested, it will make for a more comfortable and enjoyable time for people. We did see a blue penguin on the way back and the gannet colony was nice as well. We got very close to them which, environmentally, probably wasn't the best thing to do. Overall, for the $130 it was a reasonable price for being out all day.

Really enjoyed the ease of booking via Walk Pelorus. Not having to worry about food, booking accommodation, and getting to-from the start of the walk was great. Jo and Troy were friendly and informative before we left on our self-guided walk. The snacks provided for the first day were great, really liked the crackers and peanut butter slug. The food and packed lunch from On the Track Lodge were amazing, the place is awesome.

I felt safe on the work having been given a first-aid kit and a GPS satellite phone. They were right on time when picking us up from the other end of the track - and we even got to stop at the famous LOTR bridge on the way back to Havelock.

We had a wonderful morning on the Sounds. Our captain, Julian, told us many stories about the people, ecology and history of the Sounds. We enjoyed the whole experience!
