Thanks for finding us in the vastness of the Internet. We're a young, dynamic, fun company that loves cycling, wine, the ocean, beach, rivers, peaks, fields, orchards, long lunches, and of course sunny days and friends to enjoy them with.
Our business is about providing experiences. Our kick-ass bikes and awesome location helps us to do this.
We have classic beach cruiser bikes from California for hire. They have wide comfortable seats (no wedgies!), swept back handlebars, baskets, bells, and oversize tires….perfect for relaxed cycling.
We are conveniently located right on the Kidnappers Cycle Trail, our driveway connects to the off-road limestone pathway network. We are surrounded by a hub of activities and attractions, making it super easy to be right in the action of it.
We have recommended self-guided rides ranging from 6km to 25km or you are welcome to explore your own way. We are the ideal group activity for reunions, celebrations and corporate team building.

A great day out. Murray was waiting when we arrived with a couple of different sized bikes to try and took time to make sure we had the right one each. He suggested a route for us which was just about right. Started off along the coast, along the river and then back inland, out towards Cape Kidnappers and then back along the coast. This route was pretty much flat and mostly on cyclepaths separate to the road. Where we did need to go on any roads they were very quiet and felt very safe (even with my daughter who can't cycle in a straight line....)
Plenty of opportunity to stop at wineries (and big baskets on the bikes in case you buy anything. Unfortunately for us we missed out on ice cream as Hygge was closed for the provincial holiday.
Bikes appeared well maintained and we had no issues. Thank you

Thanks so much to Murray & the team at Coastal Cycle Hire. Highly highly recommend, amazing customer service right from the get go from making the booking. Murray always responded quickly to any questions I had before we arrived, and the on the day gave us a thorough safety briefing on the day, adjusting our seat heights, all while being a friendly genuine guy! We were a group of 7 girls: by far the best activity in the bay.
The bikes are fabulous to ride, very comfortable. premium and well maintained. Helmets also supplied as part of the cost.
If you’re in the Hawkes Bay, this is a no brainer, do yourself a favour and book with Coastal Cycle Hire to visit the beautiful wineries! Thanks Murray!

Myself and 4 girlfriends travelled to the Hawkes Bay over the weekend and did the Coast Wine Cycles bike tour around Te Awanga. It was SO much fun! The bikes were cruisers and super comfy & easy to ride. All equipped with baskets for the bottles of wine we picked up along the way!
Murray is a lovely guy and really helpful. We'll be back in the summer!

Brilliant! We loved our 4 hour cycle hire , don't miss doing this.
Murray the owner was delightful and so helpful. Maps and all advice and recommended circuits given in great detail.
I always worry how comfortable the bikes saddles will be (!) but these were THE MOST comfortable saddles and bikes we've ever rented. No sore backside at all, and I had had a hip replacement just 4 months beforehand :)
We did the circuit from Te Awanga up the Tuki Tuki estuary and river, beautiful. Then left into the gorgeous farmland and into the vineyards. Easy smooth tracks and quiet roads. Back to the coast, and make sure you (book ahead as so popular) and have a delicious lunch at Clearview Winery. We went back for a 2nd visit it was so good there - delicious foods served by French staff, exquisite wines. Good playground there if you are bringing children.

I contacted Murray about our booked a while before it and he both advised and secured the booking for me with great correspondence. We were traveling with a toddler and I was unsure if the tour would be possible with our 2 year old but Murray reassured, gave options, and then guided me on the track to taken and winery’s to book which would be suitable. This was so helpful! We picked the bikes up with zero hassle Murray and the bikes were ready and waiting, a quick safety and set up and we were off. This is such a lovely business and we would definitely do it again it was the highlight of our trip - which I wasn’t sure about with a toddler! We had such a great day thanks to such excellent customer service. Don’t hesitate to book!

Coastal Wine Cycles is a must do when visiting Hawke’s Bay, and should be your number option as a way to explore the nearby wineries. If you’re ever in this part of the country make sure this on top of your list to do.

Great bikes ‘Dutch style’ that are effortless to ride on these magical coastal paths. Murray was knowledgeable, helpful and had that Kiwi charm. We did 40kms and took in four stops a full-on day of coffee and wine !

Murray was fantastic to deal with. Bikes were great very easy to ride. Fantastic full on day exploring both river side and coastal wineries! Over 30kms cycling all up but well worth it! E bike hire available next time would be good!

Absolutely excellent service! They explained the options thoroughly and supplied maps and suggestions of where to go. Their bikes are suitable for any person, no matter the level of experience, and the paths were really smooth and peaceful. It was so enjoyable and pleasant, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Thoroughly recommend Coastal Wine Cycles. Murray went out of his way to get us booked in and his communication was excellent. Great bikes and a thorough and amusing briefing. Excellent information provided on the area and the best places to cycle and eat at. It all made for a wonderful day. I highly recommend this activity wh with this company.
