About
Hop on board our vintage tractor-trailers for a unique, fun eco-experience with your Gannet Beach Adventures guide. Stops along the way give you an insight into how nature’s forces have shaped the cliffs and there are lots of great photo spots during the 4-hour return trip. At the Cape you get plenty of time to enjoy a scenic walk up to the larger Plateau Colony, or you can stay near the beach to relax with a picnic and swim. A moderate fitness level is suggested for the walk up to the top colony. Perfect whether you are travelling solo or with others, the tour is suitable for all ages. Our tour season runs late September to the end of April and departs on the day’s low tide, so start times vary. The gannets, our distinctive tractors, dramatic scenery and fascinating geology of this area will truly amaze you! (Note: The coastline to Cape Kidnappers is subject to unpredictable slips & rockfalls and is a tsunami risk zone - see safety information on our website before booking).

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went on the short trip that was arranged for today. Usual great personalities by the organisers - funny, interesting, and really great for the kids. Went along the road to Clifton Camp and onto the coast. Kids and parents excited when (by accident I'm sure) the tractor and trailer went into the sea - squeals and laughter. Even better was the moment the whole thing went into a bog down - fun watching the driver getting it back out and more good fun going through the sea to a non-existent ramp to leave the beach. All in all as usual an excellent experience (would suggest this short trip may be worthwhile in the future for families with toddlers rather than the longer trip to the Cape - could be doubled as a clean up the beach trip??). Our fifth or sixth time on the trailer and would still be happy to do it again

A very amazing trip. Wonderful commentary on the way, and the sights can't be seen anywhere else. Definitely worth taking.

Great trip - even though the weather was definitely not great - driver very knowledgeable - but unfortunately hard to hear despite parking out of wind. Recommend purchasing a loudspeaker system - very difficult on drivers also - straining voice to be heard.

Thanks Elaine, for your review - so pleased you enjoyed your time with us. I agree, it is great to see the young, and it won't be long before the first babies are ready to leave for the winter!

Absolutely awesome trip with Colin (our guide) full of all sorts of informative and at time very funny stories & tall tales. Travelling by tractor was something a bit different and the hike to the gannet colony well worthwhile. I would highly recommend this tour operator.

Great trip with the kids. Not flashy, just a tractor, a comfy trailer, interesting commentary from friendly staff & great views. All at an affordable price.
Not much different than when I did it 40 or so years ago!
Worth the stop.

Thanks for the review! Not much has changed over the years to the daily operation of the tour, which we think is why people enjoy it so much.
Hope to see you again but don't leave it so long next time!

If we can't take the steep walk up to the gannet colony up the hill are we able to stay down or is that the way to return ?

Hi - thanks for your question. The walk to the top colony is optional - we have a colony of gannets located on the beach so you don't miss out on seeing the birds if you can't or don't wish to do the walk. The tractors wait at the end of the beach, which is where the walk starts, and depart from the same place (we go out and return via the same beach route). The rest shelter is approx 5mins walk from the beach and this is where a lot of people wait, as there are toilets, picnic tables and shady trees there. Hope this helps! Regards.
