Interesting interpretation of the social history during the time John Constable was painting. Low ceilings.

Even if your not interested in the history of John Constable a visit to the house is full of general history. The size of the house is so small with so many people living there, just getting by. A real piece of English history which...More

While passing through Flatford we were amazed by its beauty and clean appearance. The food looked tasty but we didn't stop to eat. All and all it was a place we would like to visit for a koffy stop next time!

Thatched cottage right next to the cafe and close to several of Constable's most well known scenes. Kept authentically period in what furnishings there are, plus some period dressed people embroidering etc on some occasions. A must to see when visiting everything else at Flatford.

Quite small and it does no take long to get round, but it is interesting to see how people lived in the times of the mill.

This is an interesting glimpse of a way of life of a family. Good for children to help imagine the past as objects are displayed clearly. Extracts from written materials at the time help recreate the scene too. However we did like the Constable exhibition...More
