We rented kayaks for a half day paddle. Great help, good equipment and excellent coffee. Try the homemade baking with a a cuppa, very laid back! The trip was very special, the wetlands are a very special place and we managed to see many different types of birds, including a white heron. Highlight of the west coast, don't miss it!

My husband and I rented kayaks for the afternoon. We had a wonderful time exploring Okarito Lagoon. It was peaceful, beautiful and full of various bird life. We had previous experience kayaking and so were given further areas to explore. We paddled over 4 hours and didn't see anyone until we were returning. We were blessed with a beautiful day... More

Stoked you enjoyed your visit and paddle! Neat description of the lagoon; often you don't see anyone else; just you, the birds, the forest and the mountains. Hope you have a great time exploring the rest of the Coast. More

We did a a few hours rental down to the lagoon and down the creek on our own that was just beautiful! Okarito Kayaks gave us all the gear and were very informative, with a detailed talk on navigation around the creek, wildlife and safety. Kayaks are of a very high standard and the scenery is just outstanding!!!!

I shared this experience with my partner for her birthday. She had never paddled before, but the care and attention given by Baz and Gemma was second to none. They were both professional and attentive to our needs and ensured we felt safe and confident prior to entering the water. Their knowledge and experience shown by them both before, during... More

White Heron's, Spoonbills, Shags, Black Swans seen easily. The kayaks were top quality and the lagoon/creeks were easy to navigate. I opted for the self-guided exploration and found the birdlife guide booklet and location area description notes to be very informative. The staff were super friendly and are wonderfully locally orientated. All equipement supplied and in top condition. This is... More
