I shared this experience with my partner for her birthday. She had never paddled before, but the care and attention given by Baz and Gemma was second to none. They were both professional and attentive to our needs and ensured we felt safe and confident prior to entering the water. Their knowledge and experience shown by them both before, during... More

White Heron's, Spoonbills, Shags, Black Swans seen easily. The kayaks were top quality and the lagoon/creeks were easy to navigate. I opted for the self-guided exploration and found the birdlife guide booklet and location area description notes to be very informative. The staff were super friendly and are wonderfully locally orientated. All equipement supplied and in top condition. This is... More

This is just the coolest place to paddle. Fabulous bird life and most exciting salt marshes to explore and get lost in! No matter what the weather, it is stunningly gorgeous. Great people in the kayaking place, gave us lots of great advice, lent us a map, and brewed some seriously awesome superfuel coffee for our trip. Such kind people.... More

My partner and I had a great 4 hour kayak together on the lagoon and investigated all the waterways. The kits is in great condition and Gemma did a great job of running us over the birds and wildlife and where we needed to go. Even if you aren't an avid bird watcher, once you're out there, you are start... More

This was one of the highlights of our two week adventure tour round New Zealand. The scenery is absolutely stunning with views of Mount Cook over the lagoon. I was a little apprehensive before the trip but safety talks are given at the beginning and the double kayaks are extremely stable, so no worries about capsizing. I had thought my... More

Hey, that's a great review!!! Sorry it's taken us so long to respond - Mel has been away, but on her behalf, it's great to hear you enjoyed your paddle so much, especially as a first-timer. Winter kayaking on Okarito Lagoon can be absolutely stunning, yet we see so few people here at that time of year - we're glad... More

Don't be deceived by this small, casual-looking business in it's remote location. It is run very professionally and Baz and Gemma both went out of their way to ensure our time with them was safe and enjoyable. We booked a 2-hour trip but before we got on the water Baz gave us a safety briefing and carefully explained the lagoon... More

Ridiculous to set off across the water in the pouring rain? Could have been but as it turned out, half way through our kayaking trip the sky turned bright blue and in the distance was snow-capped Mt Cook. What a spectacle! The kayaking guides were very calm and friendly and led us to the loveliest of places. There were two... More
