As you approach this beach you get good views of it and the surf, before winding down through the grassy bank to the beach itself. It's a lovely beach to walk along, taking pictures. There were constant breakers coming in and surfers enjoying them whilst...More

Raglan is known for its surf beaches, and this one didn't disappoint; we saw plenty of intrepid surfers. It was a chilly autumn day but we noted that it's also a swimming beach, and the Raglan Surf Lifesaving club is based there.

You may be intimidated by the LEGEND OF RAGLAN waves. But this beach everyone can surf, and enjoy the area's spectacular scenery.

One of the beautiful west coast beaches. Great surf. Lots of space. Can be quite a walk down from carpark areas if busy.

We went on a wet and windy day a few weeks ago. Great place to learn to surf. Wetsuits (probably needed) and big beginner boards (definitely needed!) are available for hire. Worth a trip

Ngarunui beach is a new experience every day. Our favourite walk is from the harbour mouth (kite beach carpark) south to the surf tower and back - about 8km round trip and so much to entertain you - Shifting sands, sunsets, horses, dog walkers, surfers,...More

Fantastic surf beach with a strong Surf Life Saving presence and active supervision of swimmers. Certainly I felt safe in some pretty big waves and right out to my maximum depth for catching the big ones as a body surfer. Only downside was the climb...More
