GREAT VIEWS OF THE WATERFALLS.
Mar 2020
Fairly good walk to the waterfalls and the views were great, especially birds singing and the sound of the water.

Awesome walk. Highly recommend.
Dec 2020
Such a great walk up to the falls. Whether you walk half way and look up at the falls or walk all the way to the top it’s worth it.
Our two kids, little miss 9, and mr 6 loved it. They boulder hoped at the beginning and ran up the track where possible playing hide and seek. We stopped at half way to have a snack. There is a small seated area at the viewing platform. Then walked ask the way up. It was a beautiful hot day and the flow of water was constant. The water at the waterfall was low enough for the kids to walk across the rocks there.
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good walk. We walked for a total of 1.5hrs, not including our stops. Make sure you wear proper walking shoes as the track can be slippery if wet.

Incredible sounds!
Oct 2020
The falls are beautiful but the sound of the water and the birds are even better. There were all kinds of bird songs and a couple playful Fantails keeping us company.

Beautiful tall waterfall, uphill hike
Oct 2020 • Solo
Due to time I only hiked to the waterfall, not the top, and while strenuous and uphill, it was a beautiful walk. The viewing platform is quite a bit a way from the waterfall itself, so it is still seen from afar.

Go - this place is Great!
Jul 2020
We thought this would be another poorly marked track and unkempt surroundings but were pleasantly surprised to see a huge near new car park, with toilets etc... Very busy walk with lots of people of all ages. Not a track for buggies or prams as quite rocky in a lot of places. Take food for a picnic at the top.

Gorgeous views, worth the hike
Jan 2020
I hiked Wairere Falls on a sunny day in January with friends. The trail is easy to follow and well maintained. There is a lower viewpoint with a great view of the waterfall through lots of foliage. The viewpoint at the top is definitely worth the additional hike for gorgeous sweeping views of the surrounding area. It was windy when we were there (I assume this is pretty typical) so watch out, you can get sprayed with water from the falls with strong gusts of wind at the top viewing platform. Overall I would highly recommend this hike!

Picturesque walk with ovely fallls
Jan 2020
It takes about 45 minutes on average to reach the bottom of the falls. Those that want to can continue for about another 45 minutes to the top of the falls. It is uphill most of the way but worth the climb with a river winding it's way through the bush creating beautiful scenery

Hard but fun hike (nice view) for family with 12 & 10 year olds
Nov 2019
My kids enjoyed complaining about how many stairs there were on this climb (there's one section of them) but although it was strenuous it's definitely do-able. Although not spectacular, the view from the lookout was nice (we didn't do the full hike to the top since it was raining).
It's definitely a must do in the area if you're a hiking family.

Steep but worth it
Dec 2019
Well maintained track. Steep but beautiful. I am not fit but did it with friends and family and found it not too strenuous. Kids aged 8, 10 and 12. Younger kids easily made it up to the first lookout which takes 45min. A couple of our group carried onto the top lookout and said it was worth it. As we came down, we stopped at the first bridge closest to the track entrance and the kids swam in the water beneath the bridge which they loved. Only warning is that a lot of the track is rocky and if wet, can be slippery. We all went in sneakers and were fine but I can see that if you don't have good balance or co-ordination, it could be more challenging.

#1 walk
Nov 2019 • Friends
Such an AMAZING walk! Definitely the hardest I have done so far (not fit) but definitely the best! I loved the creative stairs and bridges on the way to the top.
