The mountain offers spectacular views, the more you give it, the more you will get in return. But don't push yourself too hard, the mountain can be very tricky and treacherous, the locals will tell you many people died because they underestimated it. However, this...More

I hiked to the summit with a friend, starting from the visitors centre and taking just over 7hrs return (including quite a few stops for photos and food!). Definitely recommend the hike, but only if you have sufficient gear and experience. Out of a rating...More

The drive to the visitors centre is very picturesque. Got lucky that the weather was fairly hot and clear on the day we went. Cloud still obscured part of the mount. Did the nature walk which we highly recommend this walk espically if you have...More

We took our two year old to the view platform and it's an astounding view! Due to the fog we couldn't see much of the mountain itself. Very quiet and only saw 1 other person up there.

Lots of ways and places to enjoy this mountain, depending on your level of fitness. There are easy walks and very challenging walks. Worth checking out with the DOC to see what's available.

Mountain is worth a visit. Don't give up even if it is cloudy. Weather changes quickly. Dawson fall is awesome.

We drive out from New Plymouth to the falls some50 kilometres but well worth it. Little bit of a walk from the parking area but not too hard, the falls had plenty of water coming down and the vegetational up the falls looked great.

The mountain is too dangerous to climb in winter unless you have ice axe crampons and ropes and you are an experienced climber. From East egmont I guess you mean Dawson Falls carpark. You climb up fantham.s Peak first which... More
