Mt. Taranaki also called Mt Egmond. In Winter always covered by snow on uts peak. Very bautiful but very cold. It's not dog friendly place. So please do not bring the dog to visit mt. Taranaki.

On a good weather day hike to the summit of Taranaki, starting from Visitor Center car park and back should not take more than 6 - 7 hours and is a moderate grade hike. Yet on a bad weather day or in the winters this...More

With the weather being so fickle, it’s important to watch the forecast in the run up to your visit if you want to get to the summit. We got lucky with a clear day being on the cards for our short visit and managed to...More

An amazing experience. The top of the maunga was a once and a life time experience. Please be advised that this hike could be very dangerous if you are not fit or don’t have the appropriate tramping/hiking gear.

I didn't actually get to view the mountain or visit the I-site centre as the road was closed leading up to it (Egmont rd access), the reason being that there were too many visitors that day so no more cars were allowed up, this was...More

The land of the long white cloud, aka New Zealand, can be ideal with the right light and weather, since the mountain is seemingly always in clouds, however it is such unforgettable set, every step of it worth the effort and hopefully the view! (Visited...More

One of the north islands must do hikes. It is a climb, not literally with ropes, steep steps that seem to never end. We only hiked to the first lower summit. That was enough. The high summit can be treacherous. I believe 68 people have...More
