Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took the train from Porto to Aveiro and then rented bikes to ride to Nova Costa.
It takes about 45-60 minutes, passes the salt marshes and the industrial port, over the big bridge and along the cute little houses of Nova Costa.
After the interesting but not so picturesque journey, you arrive at the incredibly beautiful and endless beaches. I can't say what it's like here in summer, but there wasn't much going on in October. The beach bar was busy on a Wednesday afternoon, but the beach was barely dotted with bathers.
A highly recommended trip!

Costa Nova beach is great for relaxing, exercising and sunbathing. When you catch meteorologically fantastic days, you don't even want to get out of there. Sometimes there is a wind and a somewhat uncomfortable fog, but even in these conditions it is worth taking a walk by the sea to breathe that sea breeze.

This is a soulless urbanization, consisting predominantly of (beautiful) weekend houses that are inhabited only on the WE or during holiday periods and guesthouses and hotels for holidaymakers. In addition, campers and cars with caravans in tow determine the roads. On the main roads bid. Cafés, restaurants, fast food and souvenir shops sell their goods. So everything as usual.
Yes, that would be the case if it weren't for this fantastic sandy beach that stretches for miles at a decent latitude along the Atlantic Ocean. In the dunes that separate the beach from the village, there are paths for comfortable progress throughout.
A paradise for beach rats!

Costa Nova. Here, implanted between the river and the sea, you find small Palheiros with incarnated ribs, blue and green. Once used as warehouses for fishing vessels, today they host several families during the bathing season. A unique atmosphere in the “shredded houses” where it seems that time has changed nothing.

Nice village between the lagoon and the sea. Cottages are located on the side of the lagoon. Colorful facades. Nice to walk around or to sit on a terrace. Beautiful beaches on the sea side. Sufficient parking. Nice road there.

had a great afternoon mooching about and spending a couple of hours on the beach. A word of warning when the tide is coming in it is not safe to swim at all. Found some good coffee shops and enjoyed a long walk on the beach.

We took a day trip to visit Aveiro and Costa Nova from Porto. This became the highlight of our entire trip. Take the bus from either Aveiro train station or the quay across the tourist office to Costa Nova. Buy the round-trip tickets 7.50 euros from the bus driver when on board. It takes about 30-40 minutes or so to arrive to this small seaside town (terminus). The old time Palheiros, the shelter for the fishermen or storage house for the machinery and animals used to haul the fishing boats to the beach now become the restaurants, shops and residence. Besides having a seafood meal, taking a coffee or buying souvenirs, people can go to the sand dunes or the beach to admire the sunset. The most pleasant thing to do here is to stroll on the patterned cobblestone walkway to take a lot of photos of these stripped houses.

If you are in Aveiro, I highly recommend a visit to Costa Nova, too. This village is simply amazing with special type of houses (they resemble a little on old houses from Normandy) and after them you can see the real Atlantic ocean with sand dunes.

It costs €7.50 for 2 persons ida e volta (return) from Aveiro railway station to Praia da Costa Nova, and it is worht it! The bus trip is intersting enough, but on arrival at Costa Nova you are immediately taken with the striped houses and other attractive aarchitecture. The bus terminates a stones throw from the tourist office - although you'll hardly need a map unless you mean to do some real long distance walking as everything is within walking distance and hardly taxing to find. There are some interesting restaurants and the odd bar and a few shops if seeking souvenirs and the like. The walkway along the river is very pleasant, as is the boardwalk along the coast of the ocean situated just over the small hill leading behind the buildings seen on entry to Costa Nova. It is a beautiful beach area with fine views over the Atlantic, ideal for a lazy afternoon listening to the ocean. Well worth a visit.

Quale compagnia di autobus collega Aveiro a Costa Nova? Avevo letto da qualche parte fosse la transdev ma sul loro sito non riesco a trovare la tratta. Grazie mille.

Can you catch a bus from Aveiro to Costa Nov around 22nd September? I read there are seasonal buses.
Written 17 July 2018
There are buses all year round. Timings might change but not dramatically. There are plenty of bus stops as well so ask for times when you get here . Enjoy

Cerca de 14º no inverno e 18º no verão, como a maior parte das praias do Centro e Norte de Portugal. Há bares e restaurantes com espreguiçadeiras disponíveis, na praia, mas são gratuitas e não reserváveis.
