This was certainly a different experience as far as castles go. It is a crusaders castle along the Kings Highway. It has a variety of odd styles from all kinds of periods over the years with imposing towers and holes for guns. The north wall...More
Though large parts of the castle are in complete or partial ruin, there is still plenty to see and appreciate. The gradually narrowing steps leading down to the erstwhile prison area, the aesthetically lighted tunnels, the punishment platform from where the unfortunate were hurled to...More
Beside the fact that the castle it's full of history, there is nothing interesting here. The guides are not doing their job in the right way, they don't care of what they are describing and they will even ask you for money at the end...More

After seeing several castles in Jordan, this one is my favorite. It has so many different hidden areas in it, such as bunkers underneath the ground. The view is absolutely breathtaking. Although the reviews on here are not the best, we detoured to make sure...More

The castle itself is ok, although there is very limited information on the explanatory panels so better to go with a guide.
The views from the castle are beautiful. The road from Petra or Madaba to arrive to the castle has breathtaking views.
An interesting crusader castle, where you can spend an hour wandering around the ruins and appreciating the views of the surrounding area. Unfortunately the museum was closed and there is not a lot or information about the castle unless you take your own

The Mosaic School is a school subsidized by the Jordanian government where locals from poor communities learn how to craft and do mosaic art pieces. The facilities are very simple, but their store is fantastic. Almost a museum of their own with all kinds of mosaic art. They have a little guided tour for visitors to learn how they teach and prepare the pieces and then they guide you to the store where you can see and potentially purchase some pieces. Most of the pieces are not cheap. But above a certain price they ship it to whethever country you would like to for free.
