Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is most fascinating Museum, hands on discovery. My kids loved every moment. You can see how people lived a long time ago, how their school furniture were. German kids movie (Sterntaler) was filmed here. Great setting too. I would recommend in the late summer to autumn, this is when the leaves here turn and you will see the swabian summer which can hold upright to the famous indian summer upstate any time of the day.
Try it, you will not be disappointed....

The visit to this museum was like a real journey in time. You find around 25 historic village houses brought from different parts of Baden-Württemberg (e.g. Schwarzwald). You can walk around like in a village and also visit all the houses and see how life looked like in the countryside. There are also animals (pigs, donkeys, gooses, chickens...) Some highlights: mills, department store, town hall + school, church and many more.
The info-tables are in German only.

Don't bother if you don't speak German. Nothing was in English.
Also, It was freezing cold there today (April), so that's not a good option if the weather is not nice.
They had a few demonstrations scheduled along the day, but we left after 30 minutes, without seeing any of them. Not worth your time or money. Sorry

It's a small village of ancient farm houses that were removed from their original location and rebuild and assembled here. Gives a very good insight into the live in past times

Enjoyed easy bus ride from Tuttlingen and a quick 5 min walk from bus stop to outdoor museum. Kids free admission. Enjoyed a walk through history, seeing old German houses. My 9 year old enjoyed exploring the houses and seeing the many rooms set up historically accurate. Only problem was all the descriptions were in German so we had some trouble figuring out the story of each house. Still it was entertaining. None of the animals or “actors” were there as depicted in photos (no one spinning pottery or making shoes or making tools). Maybe because it’s still cold here? None the less, it was a nice day trip and my daughter and I had fun. She especially enjoyed the playground. They had a zip line for kids which was a hit. Would recommend packing a lunch as there are many lunch tables available and not much to eat. Small concession stand was perfect for ice cream and juice but that was it.

Worthy among the relocated / restored and functional antique villages of the world. North of Lake Constance in southern Germany.
Excellent examples of architecture, lifestyle, techniques and hospitality. Inexpensive. A must for school groups of any culture. Not too handicap friendly, but natural to the eras over the past several centuries.
Dining, rest areas & souvenirs on site. Needs 1/2 day to experience it properly. No regrets!

Great museum for the whole family, kids love the animals. They have throughout the year different events for the whole family to enjoy or just wander for the afternoon.
