As well as by roadside the castle can be reached via a walk through Wepre country park. The paths are easy the only gradient is to the castle and then metal steps up the castle. Obviously the castle itself is ruins but still interesting. Summer...More

Small parking lot on the road side. Then a 5 or so minute walk into the woods and then the site pops up. Not a whole lot left of the castle but interesting as it is. No signage at all. This is not a level...More

5 minutes walk from the roadside parking, there is a lot more to the castle than the photos suggest, and it’s atmospheric in the woods. Don’t believe cadw’s 10-4 times, it’s really a ‘any reasonable time’ site, and worth stopping

Lovely walk and not too taxing! Make sure you wear appropriate footwear as the walk through the forest can be muddy and boggy! Visitor centre is a lovely place to pop in. Play area is also great for the kids and plenty of parking available

We live in Chester and wanted to find somewhere different but not too far away to walk our dog one Sunday. Ewloe Castle and surround parklands were just the ticket. Would recommend

About 15 minutes from the car park, this is a lovely walk through the woods to a hidden castle. You can explore the ruins and climb up onto the tower.
